Exterior Compartment Locks.

Wow is me. On the way to the DMV, the refrigerator access door fell off and the guy behind me ran over it. Straightened it up as best as I could, but the lock got squashed. The casting says "Chicago Lock Co." and a #4260-1
A Google search for Chgo. IL turned up a blank.
Does anyone know if they are still in business somewhere else, or where I could get replacements?

These locks are still available form an Airstream dealer. I want to say they run like 30 bucks.

You might try to get a whole salvage door for the cost. Try Colaws.

I just ordered two new matched cores for the Chicago locks. After a lot of searching...try www.mrlock.com. They stock the 4260. Chicago lock is still in business. The new 4260 will use a round key unless you order it with out a core.

I went to the Mr. Lock site because I can use a new one on my fridge door too.
The Mr. Lock price is $12.22 for the cylinder! You can also order them keyed alike! Like the one for my battery compartment and water too! The Mr. Lock part number is: 19588

Chicago Lock is not still in business. Their company and line was taken over by Comp X in November 1999.

Looks like they still make the cylinder replacements for the flat key t handle locks as well as the barrel type keys.

Has anyone actually installed them yet? They do look a little different and I don't mean just the key. Also, the water door lock is not the same type on my '72. Did or will this one work? I need a full set and want to make sure before I plop down sixty sum bux. Thanks!

I just did my battery compartment, two tee handle locks, and my water door, one tee handle.
If you have the standard blade key, you will need more then just the core, as the new cylinder with the barrel type key is larger.

Look great, all keyed the same, the barrel key feels more robust and everything just bolted in, took all of 20 min including the beer.

I have 3 cam locks keyed differently on my '64 Safari. The key becomes the handle to open! Anyone know if I can change them out with keyed alike barrel keys? If so which MrLock parts would I use? Or perhaps just keyed alike cam locks?

I used a weather resistent stainless cam lock item 13105A76 at www.mcmaster.com. They come keyed alike and I've replaced all four cam locks that were on my access doors. So far so good.

Are your doors locked in place with a sliding arm? I have one lower "arm" on the rear access door... but it is not weather tight (loose gap at the top). And the other 2 door didn't have anything other than the key/lever lock at the bottom center. So these you can just pull straight out. I was thinking about hinging them maybe making a tighter seal at the top. ? Any pictures or help would be great - thanks!!
