I have ordered a replacement seal from Out of Doors Mart but I am not familiar with the best means of cutting this type of seal to exact length without damaging the metallic clamping strip inside the rubber which holds it to the trailer compartment door frame. Any hints from anyone who has done this job would be appreciated.

I use tin snips or a large pair of side cutters, you can also use a cut-off tool or Dremel as well, don't worry about damaging the spring clamp where you cut it.
