Bargman L-77

Hello All,
Does anyone have a resource for an exterior Bargman L-77 door handle? Mine fell off last trip and either I need to find a replacement or replace the whole fixture.

Bummed........

Someone just had a thread on a few weeks ago about a reproduction he had done for the L-77 handle. He asked if anyone else was interested. Could be a cottage industry for him!!

My Scotty uses the now obsolete L-66 lock set. Same problem. We are at the mercy of hoping someone might have a junker or a spare or an NOS one (now running over $300) to fix the ones we have.

I think Theodore (Bargman) would be frustrated with this situation because even though he strove to be at the forefront of trailering accessories, he would have wanted the classics to stay in production.

Progress

We are making progress on the L-77 handle. Hope to have it available by the 1st of May. If there is anyone out there that would be willing to loan the complete lock assembly from the door in order for us to test the new handle. I will pay the postage both ways and give them a 15% price break on the new handle. I have searched the world over and have had no luck locating one to use for testing.
I really do know how valuable these items are and will understand if you don't want to take the chance of it getting lost in the mail. I will take the best care of it while it is in my possession, not letting it out of my sight.

I can send you mine, but I have just found out I will have to travel for work this week and will not be able to remove it until next Sunday. Will that work for you?
Thanks
Ed

I will buy one. It will be nice to have another one as a spare.

Hi Mello Mike. How is the Airstream step working out? I've just made a new batch of L 77 handles. I presently have one on e-bay up for auction (you may have seen them before I've made about a dozen or so over the past couple of years). They require a bit of hand work so I only get a couple done at a time. They work and look good- especially if you have a broken handle or for a backup. I don't chrome them I leave that up to you if you want them to look more original (requires polishing and detailing). Mike did you take notice of the trailer pictured on the new WBCCI directory. It's from this years balloon fiesta. Hope to see you this summer, Mike

Hi Mike,
Good to hear from you. The step is working out fine. We will be using it with the '58 once it's done and road ready. I'll take a look at your ebay listing. I'm interested. I did notice that pic from the Balloon Fiesta. Looks good. Oh, and by the way, your quote will appear in the Airstream Life article. Your quote actually closes out the article.

It Looks Great! It Works Even Better!

Hey All,
Thanks to TG Twinkie my L77 is saved! As stated in an earlier post I had lost the outside handle on a trip this spring and TG offered to provide a new one. This is a new handle that he had made and as I understand he can have more or has made more of these.

It works great, looks great and the service he provided was excellent.

Thanks again TG!
