'74 Outlander Door Latch Pin

In my door handle there is, or should I say was, a pin that ran through to a cam that operated the latch. The pin rusted off and I have ordered a handle and a pin from Out of Doors Mart. I will be able to get it back together but it does not seem simple for me to drill the holes through the latch and pin once it is in place to prevent the pin from spinning in the latch.

If you understand this, then you've been there. Any ideas?
