Wolf Creek Pass--Hwy 160 in CO

The song (country-western) wasn't quite right but it is/was beautiful. Pagosa Springs has up-scale homes and the grades on the pass were not bad at all. LaVeta Pass was drier; many RVs at a park named "Fun Time" or something like that. Any of you been there?

Took Hwy 50 to Hwy 56 and in Great Bend, KS took 156 to I-70 AND NOW we are in Salina.....did I ever mention that I think Salina is beautiful.

Tuesday we go to Iola; then to Coffeyville and visit an uncle and aunt and then Bartlesville. I am not really certain I want to leave Salina; you never know if you can return.

That was probably Fun Valley. It's a hot spot for Texans in the summertime. Lots of kids. Lots of activities. No peace and quiet.

Took that on the way to a Rocky Mountain Vintage Rally a few years back. Nice pass, only it was under construction back then. They blocked the road for blasting, and then clearing debris. Took a while to get over the pass, I remember, and parts of it were dirt road due to the construction. It is a beautiful area, no doubt.

Last summer Brooke, the kids and I took our cross-country trip. One of the things we wanted to do was go see our land in Alamosa. We went through LaVeta Pass....lovely trip. When we left Alamosa, we took Wolf Creek Pass. I love Colorado and all of its scenery; this is why I would love to build a home on our land and retire there, but I also love San Angelo and what it has to offer, which is primarily more civilization ..... Alamosa is nice, but there just isn't enough population for my liking....San Angelo at least has a Starbucks, Pet Smart and Best Buy, LOL!!!

I think I have a picture of that somewhere. Were you traveling with Ken?

Yup that was with me......If you can't find the picture - I have several. I thought his transmission was toast when we got to the top - it was smoking so bad - turned out it was just overfill.

I'll never forget trying to keep up with Uwe on Interstate 25 in a rain storm on that trip.

Yes, I was. We met up in Durango, and caravanned together to the Rally in Colorado Springs.
It was a very memorable trip, not only did I meet my dear friend Ken there for the first time, but many others that I am still in contact with. Despite the fact that my work schedule has not allowed me to return to a RMVAC Rally.

Hey Ken, good times! Remember the shiny TradeWind you used to have? I think Richard bought it, right?

Something about altitude and hot fluid, the technician said. Either way, this transmission lasted another 2 years under grueling conditions at times.

Heavy rain+high speed+much spray and mist=efficient Wolf Creek Mud removal.

Those are the pictures I have. Yes I bought Ken's TW. Ken gets to see it again after a little more then 2 years next month. He needs to do some polish work where it has started to oxidize. I am sure glad I pay extra for the extended warranty.
