Wish I owned a sturdy barn - hurricane protection

Hey, all you Gulfcoast 'streamers, what are you doing to protect your shiny babies from hurricane Ida? We are new owners and weren't even thinking about the possibility of this kind of weather happening this late in the season.

Ida doesn`t seem like it will have much when it gets up there, but if you see a cat 2 or 3 coming,I`d be headed for Tn. or other parts unknown. Looks like we dodged the bullet again down here.Good luck. Dave

I've been watching pretty close as well. We take Christine with us when we go. We usually head to a state park out of harms way. My work trailer bites the bullet. That one has a dent from Hugo, Rita and Ike.....

I put my work trailer on concrete blocks so it cant rock n roll, after parking it as close as I can to my detached garage.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We are in Walton County, about 10 miles east of Destin. We live three houses off the Gulf. We're going to bring Lucy to the House tomorrow. That way we will have a place to stay if the power goes out. We probably won't leave for a Category 1 or 2.

Oh golly, we're leaving tomorrow morning for a cruise down to the Panhandle then over to The Villages to see DW's sister and her husband.

Now, we're meandering, and weren't planning to get to the Destin area before Thursday, so I sure hope any big winds blow themselves out before that!

Otherwise, Plan B will have to be developed at quickly!

duck

We hope you are all ready and/ or leaving for this storm. Looks like lots of rain and wind but at least they say that it is blowing itself out faster than expected at first.
My folks used to live in Freeport/Niceville area right on the water. They ducked several times, then decided it was easier to load up the Minuet and head north rather than worry so much. Our good friends that lived next door to them are going to ride this one out right there this time.
We wish you all a safe night.

We took a little longer than expected, and won't be going near the Panhandle till late Saturday or Sunday.

How is the weather looking there around the weekend? Hot and sunny, right?

(fingers crossed)

70 to 75 degrees

It has been around the 70's and has a north wind so the air is cool and dry.Perfect weather I would say.Oh..And no clouds to be seen for now.
If it helps just type in this zip code on this site.

Well, what you guys didn't get in the Panhandle, we got on the East Coast. Big surprise as to the damage it did. I live inland in eastern VA and too high for flooding, but my dad got 12" in the house in Hampton. Tides almost rose as high as Isabel did, 6 years ago.

Glad no one's Airstream was impacted.

Pat

Try Virginia Beach!

We had roads closed, trees down on houses and vehicles, flooding.... wow.

Answer Center had 5 times the normal call load - or more. The number of trees down is simply unbelievable. We have had 3000 calls on one account! Flooding - every company is working 24/7 to try to get water out of houses before the mold sets in.

My Airstream came through untouched thankfully - well a pinhole leak from the antenna - but that's it. Should have just soaped it down and let the storm rinse it! Yeah, that would happen in 40mph winds!
