Suppose to be COLD here Thanksgiving.

Just got me to thinking about how cold it's gonna be here in February. Also got me to thinking of when we brought home our NEW Airstream. We driveway camped.It was so special to my wife and I. Then we had 3 days of a power outtage and we "Lived" in our driveway in our life pod. I hope it's gonna be nice so we can celebrate out one year purchase somewhere exciting,..but in my heart of hearts last year is gonna be tough to beat.

Shane, what? 40 degrees? I used to hunt with my dad around Blanco at Thanksgiving. From what I know now, blue northers at that time are pretty 'medium' -- but guess they still need respect. DFW is much colder (and hotter) than central Texas. We dripped faucets when growing up but still saw plenty of frozen, broken pipes. True concern!

Okay, I see weather.com is talking 35 degree lows for Arlington on Thu-Fri. Member Leipper measured temps inside his cold, driveway-bound Airstream in the Sierra high country (can't find the posts... sorry). It reached the low 20s outside by early morning and yet a thermometer at floor level wasn't below freezing.

Here in Zavalla Tx today it was 83 and now it 73 at 8 pm... I know it will not last...... but it sure beats the temps at home in Ontario..

They have predicted a really mild winter for us here in the Austin area. It was really warm and windy today. I was just now outside at 8 PM in a T-shirt. We do have a forecast of a 32 degree low later in the week.

It may be a little colder where the trailer is stored. Not cold enough, though, to need to winter prep the A/S. For real mild freezes, I simply run a small ceramic heater in the trailer overnight. That's a benefit for having power in storage.

I hope I can hold out prepping the trailer for a freeze until after our big Christmas rally the second weekend in December. After that, we probably will not use it until after new years.

I drain the tanks, blow out the lines, and put pink stuff in the traps for really cold spells.

As I was putting the trash bins by the curb just now, I was thinking how strange it is that it's 72F in late November... at 2200. Craziness, and it may briefly flirt with freezing on Friday morning. The old cliche is that if you don't like the weather in Texas, wait around an hour, it'll change.

It is predicted to be -(Minus) 10 to 15 tonight. That should freeze a few things here. 47 degrees below the freeze point. And it is still Fall. Winter doesn't start for another month.

When I flew in from St. Louis last Friday I read up on the weather. I cannot believe how how it has been here, and I really didn't pack for the trip with shorts. Luckily I had left a few pairs when I was here in August. Slept with windows open all last night.

Several years ago we had February temps in the mid 90's for a few days (Dallas)
Then back to 10 immediately. After that no weather in North Texas surprises me.

We remember this one Shane as we were camped at The Vinyards Campground on beautiful Lake Grapevine. We left our snow shovels behind in Virginia and had to use the RV brush to clear paths to the truck. What a storm!

Strange days indeed! Here in Corpus Christi temps are in low 80's. It's reminiscent of the year we almost had a frost!

If we have another "big snowstorm" in the metroplex this year, I just hope that last year's storm took out enough of the weak branches on my neighbors' trees that we won't be without electricity for 2 days again. I didn't lose a single branch, because I trim my trees... but even if I'd lost a branch, it wouldn't have taken out a power line because I TRIM MY TREES. Texans by and large just can't imagine how to plan for bad weather beyond thunderstorms and tornadoes.

Hey DKB, you're lucky you aren't in Houston! They even mention freezing weather here and it becomes a public holiday. Last thing I want to be doing is driving in wet freezing water with crazy rednecks trying to go 80 in their pickup trucks or SUVs. (ok I'm a native I might be one of them)

Back in the '80s I moved from the panhandle (real winter) to the hill country outside Austin. Lots of "Move down here, it doesn't do that here." First winter I was there we had a snowfall of 10" or more. Even San Antonio had 10". Lasted for days. I had friends who had never driven in snow at all.
