Cool Which Model?

We have been RV'ing for over 20 years, from pop-ups & travel trailers all the way to diesel pushers. Currently we have no rv's but are looking at the 28W Safari LS Airstream. We love the Airstreams because they don't look as cheap inside as most of the current trailers, seem better constructed, although the price is 2 to 3 times as much. Any thoughts from Airstream trailer owners on value, resale, overall quality and model selection? Anything you wish you knew before you purchased yours? Were not sure if the Safari is the best choice. We want this to possibly be our last trailer purchase and keep it till we can't rv anymore. Thanks for the help.

Hello Larry, hello Phyllis,

I might be able to answer a few of your questions.
Trailer selection is for the most part dependent on needs and wants.
Take a look at the specs for your proposed tow vehicle, and make sure it can handle the weight and mass of the 28W LS. It will be well over 7000lbs when ready for travel, with a tongue weight that is approaching 1000lbs.
So, definitely a candidate for a 3/4 ton long wheel base vehicle with proper gearing and a large engine.
The layout of the 28W is very nice, with plenty of room for relaxing and dining, and the queen bed in teh rear would certainly be easy to get in and out of, without disturbing each other. I also think that a 28ft Airstream is still easy to pull and park.
If I was shopping for my last RV, however, then I would opt for teh Classic Line of trailers. ( Actually, myself would grab a CCD)
The Classic 28 offes more room in the front, a nicer fit and finish, much better windows, and overall just a more desirable package. With it come more weight, and a larger price tag. It loses the dinette set in favor of a roomier living space. The rear of the trailer is similar.
The windows and cabinetry make the biggest difference, in my opinion.
It's best if you visit a well stocked dealrs and compare for yourself.
Best wishes!!
