Where were all the Airstreams?

I went to the Cape last weekend. We left on Thursday and we decided to keep track on what we saw in the was of campers while on the road. We only counted them if they were on the road or hooked up at a rest stop etc. Didn't count what we saw in backyards or campgrounds. Thursday we saw 18 campers and on Sunday on the return trip saw 26. Not one was Airstream. We never even saw one in anyones yard or at a campground. Notta!!! Not even and Argosy or Avion. These things are like my 31 Pontiac. Just plain rare until you go to rally..........

I'm in the same situation as sjptak,
NO airstreams on roads, NO airstreams in camps ground, BUT sometimes one at the TV, just a few second ...
Oh sorry, I'had forgotten in live in FRANCE...

Be patient, it'll be the A/S season

Bruno.

Now that's funny......

Just happened to remember seeing an ad for Master Card about a week ago. Shows a older couple in their Airstream, and it mentions the cost of T Shirt souveniers for the grandchildren as being $XX.00, and cost of peace and quiet, priceless.

The Airstreams do have a way of showing up in the media....

In my town of about 10-15,000 people I have probably seen about 10. I think that is a pretty high percentage. The only bad thing is some of them have big evaporate coolers on top or in the side inhabited with babys running around in dirty diapers and no shoes in their dirt yard if you get my drift.

There are at least a couple of commercials running recently that have A/Ss in them...I think one of them is for some shampoo...the other for "claratin". brief glimpses, but they run these adds over and over and over and over..

apparently, its quite chic to have one out in a field somewhere, where you can dance and frolic about it with your other model-friends.....but not so chic to hook one up to a truck and actually go camping.

I'm not much of TV watcher. I spend too much of my time on this stupid computer to be able to watch TV. We were at the Doc's and I think it was a time mag I picked up. Not sure....

As far as chic goes, I think anything to do with A/S is chic. Weeeellllll, on second thought, maybe not dumping the black water tank. Necessary evil, but not chic. I have a hard time calling it a black water tank. I always thiink of it as the s**t tank.

Airstream sightings are rare..........

everywhere we go. We live right off of I-75, about 50 miles north of the Florida/Georgia border. While that is one of the busiest interstates in the nation, with traffic going/coming in/out of Florida, Airstream sightings remain few and far between. We hauled our trailer to beautiful Fort Clinch State Park, Amelia Island, Florida, this past weekend. We saw one other Airstream heading North. There is one big beautiful Airstream motorhome parked (unoccupied) at the Park. I drove on to Melbourne, Florida, on Monday, and didn't see an Airstream, although SOB campers and RV's made up about every 10th vehicle on I-95.

SAW TWO ON THE ROAD AND TWO IN RV PARKS TWO WEEKS AGO ON I-45 BETWEEN DALLAS AND HOUSTON AND AT GALVESTON STATE PARK. WE USUALLY SEE AT LEAST ONE (BESIDES OURS) WHEN WE TAKE A WEEKEND TRIP (ABOUT 6 PER YEAR). IT'S SORT OF AN "I SPY" GAME FOR"SHE-WHO-MUST-BE-OBEYED" AND I WHILE DRIVING.

Jeff.......

It sort of reminds me of a game my two sisters and I played when we were young and would go on trips with our late parents. Back then it was Buick sedans. A "two-hole" Buick got you two thumps on the arm; three whacks for a "three-hole," etc. While we get a kick out of seeing other Airstreamers, my wife and I at least spare each other the aches and pains associated with punching one-another around over the sightings!

YEAH, AT OUR AGE, WE HAVE ENOUGH ACHES AND PAINS WITHOUT ANY ARM PUNCHING!! I GUESS WITH COUNTING AIRSTREAMS, WE WOULD HAVE TO COUNT AXLES AND REWARD THE WINNER WITH A KISS OR A GERITOL TABLET.

I know they are there, but.....

I just can't seem to find them. "SHE-WHO-MUST-BE-OBEYED" and I enjoy playing the game anyway. The first one who sees one get a kiss from the other. Kind of like padoodles.

Talking A Good Airstream Day!

I saw 6, yeah SIX today, between Columbus and Cleveland on 271 and 71. 5 were Northbound, I assume heading to the International Rally. Three 34 footers, a 22, 26 and a 31 Southbound on 271. One of the 34's was from Texas, WBCCI 8889, pulled by a red Suburban. Happily, none were being towed by Intrepids!
