Where to Go?

Hi all, We did it! Just purchased our first AS 30' Classic. Pick it up Friday. Hadn't planned to get the 30' but hope to winter in Florida (I get a bit claustrophobic) so that is why we went with the larger one. Now the question for all the experts. Where is the best place to camp in Florida for January, February and part of March? We would like to be on or near the water. We look forward to meeting some of our fellow AS folks. Thanks so much!

In other words, Naples and the Everglades? Maybe the keys? The southern half of the state is warm, if you want tropical, you need a boat! We live in north Florida, Gainesville, a couple dozen days in the 30 and 40 each year. Never have had to winterize.

Zak asked for the best...

A little help here, please. I can't remember the name of the place, but there is a campground/time share place where people rent out their spots. It's on the water, and most have piers, decks, or patios on the water. But I THINK ? it's about $800 a month.

I think ( IMHO ) the best beach location with a campground is Destin. The sand ALMOST looks like snow.

I hear you have to book well in advance in Florida for winter months.

Congrats on your new 30' Classic!

Florida is a REALLY REALLY REALLY big place! For perspective, it is father from Pensacola to Key West than it is from Pensacola to St. Louis. El Paso and Houston are closer together than Key West and Pensacola. And nowhere in the state is far from water.

What are you looking for?

Old South with Spanish moss and southern drawl? Apalachicola
Sugar white sand? Destin
History? St. Augustine
Theme parks? Orlando
Alligator swamps? Everglades
Island life? The Keys
Vivid nightlife? South Beach (Miami)
etc etc etc

Four state parks in the keys, Bahia Honda, Curry Hammock, Long Key, and Pennekamp. Good luck with finding an available site during snowbird season. There are many private parking lots, er, campgrounds in the keys, but be prepared for in season rates....
