Thumbs up for what it's worth...

I use this site quite a bit and have had no trouble getting rid of stuff. Keeps things out of landfill. I'm glad your stuff went to a deserving young broke person! Weren't we all there at one time!

Good luck!

The shock of my life...

As most of you know, I had to go back to the orthopedic doctor for my 4 month checkup. Last time I was there the power was off, and they were unable to take any x rays, or much of anything else. The doctor I saw told me I could bear weight on my involved leg as tolerated, up to full weight bearing. I have been slowly (?) increasing the weight and reducing my dependence on my walking aids over the last several weeks, graduating from a walker to crutches, and finally to a cane. The last few days, I have been more carrying the cane in case I get into trouble, and just walking.
They took xrays today, and when the doctor's intern came in and looked at them, he kept looking over his shoulder at me, kind of nervously. I could see all the nuts, bolts, screws, chains, and other hardware that are now a part of my hip and pelvis in the x rays. I asked him if everything was all right, and he mumbled something about getting the doctor. He left rather hurriedly, and returned with the doc in tow. Now I am getting worried. The doctor asked me to stand up, and walk to the nurse's station across the hall. I did so, doing a smart about-face, and returning to the doctor. He asked me to repeat my walk, which I did, and when I returned, both of them were conferring under their breaths.
After he made me perform for him a few more tasks, he told me I was clear to resume my life, and congratulated me on such a rapid recovery. Oh, and come back in another two months for a checkup. I guess keeping me worried was payback for my bicycle question.

It really happened that way! They did tell him to stay off the roof of the airstream. They kept repeating 4 1/2 months, over and over as if they could not believe it was real. It is very seldom a patient makes such wonderful progress in such a short period of time. But like we explained, he heals fast.
Both doctors and the nurse were dutifully impressed.

Congrats Terry -- have you gotten any fireboss offers for the Everglades or Georgia border yet? Just - Say - No.

Marie, good for you too -- and you know it only too well. Continued progress to you both!

That's great news. Congrats, it's obviously because of the great care you received around the clock at home. Great job all the way around. This is good news.

Hey Terry,

While staying 'off the roof' as instructed, will you will also stay 'out from under too?

Great news.......just don't rush things too much and slow your progress!!!!

Congrats Terry! I can't imagine what you've been through. Don't overdo the freedom! Slow and steady as she goes. Good Luck

He told me no ladders, but I am cleared to perform most other activities, including welding the frame on our trailer.
Now I need to make a decision as to whether I want to return to mechanicking, or maybe something less physically strenuous. We are still planning to fulltime, now I just need to decide what I want to do with the rest of my working life. I have been tentatively offered a teaching position, but that will mean no fulltiming. This is a choice I was not ready to consider for several more months, and was caught off guard. Not that I'm complaining, I like this kind of surprise.

Thank goodness...

Terry & Marie-

As one of hundreds following progress, I'm so happy to hear of good results so far, both for crash damage and eye surgeries.. Even those of us not posting here regularly are doing our thing with prayers and good thoughts on regular basis! Congratulations for being "fast healer" seem odd, but it is great news to hear that mobility and visibility are returning...

Best of luck with choices on next chapter of life as well, as sometimes doors open when not expected, or the "wrong" door opens... I'm sure I speak for many when I say we hope you find some peace and comfort over the next few years, after the prior ordeals are put behind you...

Terry, I have been reading this thread all along. Wow! what a saga. I am thrilled to hear about your progress. I ride scooters and motorcycles myself and often think about you when I am putting on my helmet and gear. I have allot of financial responsibility with my own business, kids mortgage etc. Your journey helps keep it real for me. I really admire the spirit and will that you have exhibited through your journey. Keep your chin up and enjoy the ride!

No good news goes unpunished...:(

I went into the hospital this morning to get the clot filter removed. They did an ultrasound on the area, and found that the clot is still right where it was! So, no removing the filter for the near futurel. I will have to have it checked again when I go for my next checkup. But at least I'm walking...
