Marie,

Good news for you and Terry. Glad to hear that he is still improving and glad that your eye surgery went well.

Woopie!

So glad to hear you are both healing fast!

In addition to the massage therapy I'm sure responding to questions on this forum is helping build strength and dexterity in the hands.....

I'm looking forward to hearing the good news when you'll be taking the Airstream out for the first time. I'll even try to take a few days off and head down there to meet you two personally. Meanwhile just keep getting better!

Good to hear of the improvement of both of you.

I can feel your pain Terry. I remember the summer of '85 - My entire summer was spent either in a wheel chair, on crutches or walking with a cane (clear into October). My accident? A karate move gone bad. I ended up with a spiral break in the lower part of my leg and my knee joint bolted together.

My full leg cast (from hip to toes) caused hubby to take out the front passenger seat of the Ford Escort. I sat in the back seat with my leg propped on a wooden box built the right height.

Some day I'll tell you the story of how my wheel chair got away from hubby on a hill.... Ah yes, that was a year!!!

Anyway, keep up the good work - and if you want a funny image to keep up your spirits picture me and hubby looking in the trailer toliet and watching it flush for the first time! Non Airstreamers would have thought we were nuts being so excited watching the water come in and go out. It's the little things that count!

We drove 2.5 hours to the doctors' office today. We got there at 12:30, I hobbled into the downstairs lobby (office is upstairs, er, up the elevator), and noticed the lights were off. Hmm. Maybe they are conserving electricity, and if so they should be commended for their efforts. However, I was quickly informed by the several non-stair-climbing patients waiting there, the electricity is out.
Terrific.
So I guess they are going to take my X rays by candlelight?
Marie limped up the fire stairs to let them know I was there, and would be willing to climb the stairs if they could find a pair of crutches (walkers are not well suited to stairs, they are wider than most stair treads).
They quickly declined the offer, and the doctor came down to visit me. (the mountain came to Mohammed)
After taking a few minutes to review my chart, he asked me to move my leg around as much as I could. I did this, then stood up, knelt down, sat up and begged, rolled over, played dead...oh, that was another game somewhere else...
He seemed impressed, then asked if I could walk. I stood up, and using the walker to steady myself, clomped around the lobby under my own steam for the first time in months. Yay!
Next appointment is in 4 weeks, I should be able to get the filter removed from my kidney the same day. I should be able to drive up, but where the incision is to remove the filter, I don't think I'll be driving home. Kind of like jogging home from your vasectomy surgery, if you get the idea .
The doctor knows me too well, he told me just because I am able to walk, does not mean I can climb on the roof of our travel trailer and work on it...So, which one of you guys told on me???

Paula,

We were going to Ocala for Memorial weekend with my SOB owner sister (we still love her), but the very nice lady who is loaning us her mobile home will not be ready to leave until that weekend and we will need to move to her house then.

If we can swing it, we will still try to go. By then Terry will be able to drive and tow the coach. If not we will definately go somewhere for the 4th of July weekend. I say we have an impromptu rally to celebrate the healing. We'll bring the mudslides!!

For all who ask, yes I can tow the coach, but he has these weird transmission box things on the gear shift lever in his truck that are greek to me. I can start it and drive it around town, and given 4 lanes I can make a u turn.

Now on three legs

Thursday I graduated from 6 legs (4 on walker + my 2) to 4 legs (my 2 + 2 crutches). Today I graduated to 3 legs. As in cane. Also, the orthopedic surgeon told me Thursday that when I was able to walk without crutches I could drive. Soooo....Marie went grocery shopping this afternoon, and returned to find Moose, and myself, gone.
Today was also special because we had our first rain in about 6 months this afternoon. Of course it was a severe thunderstorm. And I was out driving around in it. Naturally. Remember, my Native American name is Little Black Cloud, so it figures... Anybody else need rain? I'll be happy to drive through your town for a nominal fee.

Imagine my surprise when I got home and no Moose, or Terry. I was not upset because I know him. He did very well.

Ah, yes! We need rain desperately. It all went east this year, we're way below average.
Maybe if you call our governator, he might take care of you real good if you can bring our reservoirs back to normal.
In any event, I am glad to read that you are recovering so well! Best of luck to you!

Dittos on the Luck & Prayers!

Sames goes for me, Terry! So good to hear of your progress and it's refreshing to know this community is still praying for you. Thanks again for your friendship and your sterling example of endurance. I'd call that the "silver lining in Little Black Cloud."
