Oh, Marie, we are sorry to hear of a setback for Terry. Darn, he had been doing so well. May this turn out to be one small step back, and two steps quickly forward again! Our thoughts and prayers continue for his good health and your own strength through this healing time. ~G

Marie, I'm so sorry y'all have run into this temporary road block. If it is infection, it sounds like you've caught it early enough to give it the 'ol 1-2 punch. Thank goodness you have the knowledge base to know early signs and be proactive. Glad he's back on the Lovenox before that clot propagates. You both remain in my prayers.

Good morning to all,

I am heading off to the hospital and hopefully leaving with him.
I know I don't have to ask, but please continue the prayers and good thoughts.
A small set back does not mean the end of the war, just a break.

Marie

Hi Terry,
sorry to hear you is poorly. It sound like you needs an increase in your medication - people say the same thing about me! Best wishes and thanks for the valuable help with my trailer.

Hi,

Thanks guys for the non-infectious thoughts.

Terry is in x-ray right now having an IVC filter put in to help prevent the clot, and more if they form, from going to his lungs.

The abcess site opened about 5 this am and started draining, but rumor has it he is going to surgery today to have the area cleaned out and a drain put in.

I guess I made the right call Sunday night by calling the doctor and getting him to Tampa.

He is really not feeling well and is trying to sound cheerful, but I can tell he feels like hell. (can I say that word on the forum?).

Keep praying and thinking good thoughts for him.

Marie

yes, you may. I'll even take it a step further, and say, "yes, dammit, you can say "hell"".
Say anything you like, if it makes you feel better.

For the really bad words, there's always this smiley:
whatever you feel is appropriate.

Hi,
Terry had surgery on the abcess in the surgical scar today and he is now in recovery. They talked about putting him in ICU but changed their minds and are sending him back to his room.
They were unable to close the wound and have placed a wound vac to help the drainage and hopefully they can take him back to surgery and close it this friday.
The Dr. said he may be on IV antiobitics for up to 6 weeks at home. they put another central line in him in surgery for the long term abt's.
On my way back to the hospital, had to check into the ashley towers in Tampa, my home away from home, and will post later.
Marie

Yikes! Sounds like a major speed bump in the road to recovery!

Mr. InsideOut had to do the IV (pic line) antibiotics for about a month with a staph infection, it is a pain but becomes part of your routine. He actually went camping with it towards the end ~

Hang in there Terry (& Marie)!!! You are still in my thoughts & prayers.

Shari

Hi,

Terry has his morphine pump back, he's holding on to the little black button, but hasn't really needed it that much. They also ordered a CPM machine to keep his right knee and hip limber since he can't have therapy or do the excersizes for a couple of days.

His spirits are good but he's upset with the setback which we can all understand.

I told him I updated the forum, and he said to tell all he said hi and he will be back on as soon as he can.

MArie
