He is doing wonderfully and has the non weight bearing walking down pat. The nurses gave a collective sigh of relief because now they can quit crawling out of his reach. His room mate was waiting with baited breath for him to leave so he could have his bed by the window.
gasparilla was good, we were so high up you couldn't see the details, so we watched it on tv.
When I got back to the hotel Saturday night, a couple of big burly drunk pirates were in the elevator. One of them said "arggg, a elevator full of beautifu women", I responded with " OH my a big brave pirrate to protect me"
I said they were drunk and I was the only female on the elevator.
Well, have to get groceries and pain pills. He will be on shortly.
Marie
Who needs groceries when you have PAIN PILLS. Just a thought.

Good news is that he is home safe - Get well soon.

So... does this ring a bell from the weekend? We'll put him on just Tylenol if it does.

No place like home

Hallelujah, Terry and Marie are back at home base! Terry, now you can get REAL rest in your own comfy home whenever you want with no annoying interuptions like PT, lab, nurses . . . . oh, the nurses, right . . . you didn't mind that part. So was chasing them part of your PT?

Marie, I totally understand the relief of having Terry back home. We are still sending good thoughts and our prayers that all continues to go well.

Back on the air...

I am back on after suitably wowing the surgical team...I was (impatiently) waiting for release from my above-ground dungeon, also known as a hospital room, when I had to attend to a call of nature. While finishing business there, I heard a voice saying. "Okay, where the hell IS he?" I washed my hands and stepped out of the W.C. with my walker, and headed back for the recliner in my room. About that time, I heard "There he is!", stopped, and turned around to find all three of my doctors standing in the hallway with their mouths hanging open. Seems I was doing a bit better then they thought I should have been.
After the docs regained the power of speech, I received several hand-shakes all around, and the keys to the city, also known as discharge orders.
When I got home I found a bill from Lee Memorial health system for my initial emergency room sojourn, to the tune of $22,000, not including physician's fees or ambulance charges.
The wrecker bill for the scooter was $200, and hotel room for Marie was $400 for the time she spent in Tampa.
I am sure there will be more as the billing department and post office catches up to me. I am sure the hardware upgrade will add to the balance.

And so it goes...
Terry

Glad to hear you are doing much better. Don't forget the markup on those bills to the insurance company for overhead and administrative costs

I dunno, Terry... when I have a looming repair bill for a car, I always weigh the cost of repairs against the blue-book value of the car. I think Marie ought to get a second opinion and then decide whether or not she'd be better off trading you in on a new model that isn't broken. I've got a copy of Kelly around somewhere if she needs a little help. What year model did you say you were? Oh... and will AAA pick up the tab for the ambulance? It's almost like a tow truck...

That's pure evil, Rog. I guess that's why I had to pick myself up off the floor after reading it!

Welcome back Terry; I just hope that your recovery from injuries will be fast and easy, now that you are home. I spent only four days, and was just about ready to walk out. I just hope that you keep your cool when the rest of the bills start coming in. Ambulance company sent me a bill for a three mile ride for $1325.00, so I had to call them and ask if I did not have a helicopter ride.
My ICU bill for one day only was near $10.000.00. Now I keep getting all kinds of bills for outside services from different medical groups, which were denied by Aetna. Just keep it on the light side and everything should return to norm. Wishing you speedy recovery. "Boatdoc"
