Thumbs up splitting hairs..

Brett,
You're so very close..
Actually it was the 1994 model year that marks the very begining..
Of course, we all know that A/S made the 94 models in 93 as well..
Like I said, splitting hairs..lol
ciao

Uh... guys... I think it was '95? My '94 isn't a wide body. I think '94 was the last year of the 8' bodies, but I'm not certain. '95 may have been the last year? Did they do a split production run of standard bodies and wide bodies? Or did they introduce the wide bodies in some lengths before they did others?

I guess I thought that the entire line switched with the model year production. I just don't know whether it was in '95 or '96.

My recollection is that the '94 Limited was a wide body, but the rest of the line changed over for '95.

If that's the case, Mark, then I got cheated! My '94 LTD is the narrow body.

Our '95 is not a wide body. Can't say the same for her owners. Somehow we all fit, snug, but fit!

If you trust the dimensions given in the NADA Price Guide Airstream listings and read into the weight increases posted here on the Airststream Web Site, the change to "wide bodies" occurred for the 1996 model year (probably changed in late 1995).

According

This is the source that listed the first year of "wide-body".
Order of First~
Among the list of "first" is the year for the first wide body, listed as 1994..

At the end of the 95 model year they made the 34' a wide body and all classic trailers in 96 are wide body. We went to order a 95 30' trailer and saw one of the first wide body trailers in April or May 95. When we learned all 96 models would be wide body we delayed ordering until late in the year in order to get a 96 model wide body.

Wasn't the width also increased in 1969 when the new series was introduced? I know that all the models gained a foot in length over the prior versions at that time.
