We had a terrific week end! We set up camp Thursday night at FDR State Park in Pine Mtn. Georgia and worked Friday and came back Friday night to camp all ready and waiting. The fridge was cold and the A/C cool. On Saturday, I took the boys fishing and later that day we took our two boys horse back riding at the FDR trails: they had the best time.
Our younger boy is 6 and our older is 9 and this was both boys first time on a real horse, excluding poney rides. We rode on wooded mountain trails with two guides and another three party family.
On Sunday we took our boys for the surprise we had promised them for several days leading up to the trip...The Wild Animal Park at Pine Mountain. They loved it!
The animal park has bred several Ligers (father=lion, mother=tigeress). They were huge. Larger than a male of either species.
Monday we packed up and headed home.
The entire trip went off without a hitch, pardon the pun. No deer damage and no accidents...this is good for me.
But I did have a couple of RV moments with the blue tote emptying the gray tank. I finally got the hang of it after dumping a couple of gallons of over flow on the ground at the camp site...must remember to open that little cap on top to let the air out. It seemed I had to emty that thing twice a day to keep up. Not really, but the gray tank on our AS is 38 gallons and the blue tote only holds 25. But I finally learned a technique that worked for me.
Met a nice guy with a big diesel pusher towing a fairly new Yukon at the dump station. He said he can tow it in Park with the transmission disengaged. Learn something new every day.
That was pretty much our week end. The best camping trip of the summer. Sad it is over.
