What's this? Radiator bag?

See this attached picture. I bought this at an estate sale last weekend, it looks like a radiator bag but it is firm like a water canteen.

What do you call this and what exactly was it for? Car?

Thanks for your help,

TinCanSue

No picture available but I would think it would be windheild washer before coolant overflow but I could be wrong.

If it's for coolant overflow it should have a hose running to the fill neck on the radiator.

If it's windsheild it may have a electric pump hanging on it or mounted next to it (little bigger then a D size battery) or a hose running up to the windsheild washer motor if it's a GM platform.

evaporative cooling

some of you desert dwellers can correct me if i am wrong...

it was designed to be filled with water and hung from the hood ornament on your car. and placed in front of the radiator.

it is pourus so the water can wick to the surface.

as you drove the water evaporated, cooling the air entering your radiator.

not unlike a swamp cooler.

Looks like one of those Woody Harrelson men's handbags, made out of hemp. I think he was holding it in one of those "High Times" photo shoots?
