Andy,
My post was supposed to make you and the other readers smile. That's all. No harm or insult was intended.

In support of Andy

As a new Airstream owner still trying to find my way through the trailer and fix all the problems I'm uncovering, I'm very happy with the FREE advice that Andy has been able to provide me. I haven't even purchased anything from Inland yet, but my list is growing...

PLEASE...delete this thread.

Thumbs down Bessie's Done Dead

Holy Mackeral Saphire!

Let's not delete this thread! I post for posterity!
HOWEVER it has become a silly pizzing contest.
If I am not mistaken we can omit our own posts to this thread though.
I would move this to Parts or maybe to Warts...
Overlander I will still gladly park beside you and share the brew with you. BUT you are going Overboard with the personal stuff regarding Inland-Andy, and Overlander your horse was dead long ago...so just quit beating it!

Inland-Andy is quite the counter-puncher, but all this prize-fightin' is keepin him from answering questions'(like mine above)
I think we all have the picture you are not gonna buy from him, and that suits him just fine.
I'm plannin' on keepin' ALL my options open, that includes drinkin' your beer, eatin' his famous burgers, taking "good" advice as I find it, buying parts where I might, BUT never payin $546. for ANYBODY's dammded Door-Latch!

Here is a little more civil thread which relates (sorta)

Glue

Hey Overlander,

Did you know that we use this glue made from animal bones to glue tolex on vintage guitar speaker cabinets?

NEWS

Someone in Dallas is making the handle "only" for the old old Bargman locks. Cost $149.00, plus shipping. Sounds like a deal, if a person wants to keep everything original.

I'm very new to this board and have been very impressed with the civility displayed until I got to this thread. It was an interesting read and I'm glad it wasn't deleted.
I belong to other lists for pet sitters, and let me tell you.....it can get nasty at times. I guess it's just human nature.
That being said; I haven't even picked up my Airstream yet, but will probably not skimp when and if I need to replace or repair a part.
In my younger days I would sometimes "make do" with the voice of reason echoing in my head.
So many times I ended up going back and getting what I really should have gotten in the first place and paid twice to get what I want, or have it bother me that what I did get isn't right.

I've never said I should have gotten the cheaper CD player or the economy priced carpet. Every time I walk into my kitchen I look at the floor and think, "I wish I had gotten the dark grout". (It was more expensive)

Where is this going? I have bought and sold two SOBs, all the time really wanting an Airstream. The third time's the charm, but think of the time, effort, and $$$ I could have saved if I had gotten an Airstream in the first place.

Maybe it's my nature, but I would buy Airstream parts if that is what is called for. If I have to put out a chunk of change once every 30 years for a door lock, I'd do it.
