We have a ceramic cube heater we use when staying at a park with electric. Why pay for propane when electricity is available?

I will show my ignorance about my systems for my yet to arrive trailer....but I thought for AS's plugged in, it runs on electric for the heat...and if not then on propane? Or is it always heating via propane?

You have your choice...works both ways. Set on AUTO it will switch from propane to AC and versa visa.

I thought only the furnace ran on propane and the heat pump on electric, similar to the AC. I have never used AUTO but I thought it was only for the switching between the AC and HP.

Our heat pump,(AC) and furnace are not connected. The furnace will switch when set on Auto.

Are you sure Bob? Anytime the 12 power is cut off by removing the batts, or using the store switch, the Thermostat must be reset in order for the switching between HP and furnace to work. I don't know how far before 07 model year that thermostat was used though.

This is out of the Comfort Control center (5 button) manual found here:

http://manuals.heartlandowners.org/H...eration_EN.pdf

F. AUX. HEAT

When in the
HEAT PUMP
mode, if the outside ambient temperature
is measured to be below 30°F and the vehicle is equipped with a
furnace connected to the Comfort Control Center, the control will
automatically select the
FURNACE
operation and the
HEAT PUMP
will shut down.
Important:
If vehicle is not equipped with a furnace no heat
will be available below 30°F. IF vehicle is equipped with a
furnace and it is connected to its own thermostat, it must be
manually turned ON and OFF for operation.
When this happens, the
AUX. HEAT
and the
HEAT
PUMP
indicators
on the LCD will illuminate. Once the outside ambient temperature is
measured above 38°F, the control will return to the
HEAT PUMP
operation and shut down the furnace if it is connected to the Comfort
Control Center. If furnace is not connected to the Comfort Control
Center, the furnace thermostat must be manually turned off.

However Pharm, you will have the newer 10,000 button unit. I jest.....it is really a confusing one though.

Thumbs up Thanks....

Rich,

My bad...your rite.
I've never used the heat pump below 40* so have never seen the AUX heat function illuminate.

Auto fan mode only controls the fan speed depending on temp.

Learn something every day....I hope.

Yea, when I lived in Ohio I was discussing heat pumps with a friend who buys parts for a HVAC co. He never hear of a heat pump before. Then I remembered it just to dag cold in Ohio!!!!
