Yes, it does, kind of like an accordion. Once folded, I wrap a couple of bungee cords around it to keep it folded. I usually toss it in the bed of the truck.
I guess the only thing that might make it "better" would be a carry bag. But, I like the idea of non-bag, since there's no telling what kind of crawly things might be in the mat from camping. For that reason, I would not want to store it in the trailer. (Another thing I like to do is bring a small tank sprayer with some bug killer in it to spray the campsite a bit. Nothing too toxic or smelly, though.)

I love resurrected threads. I have a Dometic Patty O mat that I like a lot. One of the RV dealers had them on ebay for ages, always around $100. I kept waiting for a cheaper price but it never came along. The dealer was about 100 miles away so I figured I'd drop in and see what they had them for in the store. One day a friend of mine had business a couple of blocks away so I had him check them out. I think I paid $35. I do love a deal.
I still might give that sand free mat from CGear a try. One can never have too many mats.

I ended up with a very large blue mat from Walmart.com in the $50 range.

A 18 x 12 would cover full length. When I pur. my rv patio mat I think was $64.00 dollars on Ebay. Smaller sizes not priced much lower so 18 x 12 was better buy.

Finally have wifi after leaving Alumapalooza 7.
We really love our 10' X 10' CGear Aqua/Green mat.
Folds up easy, flat and squishy for easy storage and dries incredibly fast when I rained on.
I would definitely recommend to anyone....saw at least 6 of these at Alumapalooza!

We got a couple 8X10 synthetic fiber indoor/outdoor "rugs" from Lowes a few years back for about $15/each. Super lightweight, dry almost immediately and seem to shed dirt & sand easily - at least, we're not taking it in the trailer.
As they are very lightweight, you have to spike down the corners or put weights on them to keep the rug from blowing away. Our rugs are grey - have seen them in brown and green. They fold up nicely & compactly so that when we're packing up, I store them both in a small plastic bin with the stakes, awning lights and wheel chocks in the back of the truck.

We have been at a beach campground all week, and I have used my new CGear sand free mat for the first time.
It does an excellent job of doing what it advertises, allowing sand to fall thru, leaving a clean surface on which to stand.
I can sit barefoot outside, keeping my feet clean and not tracking sand in, and the sand on Lily’s paws cleans off pretty thoroughly by itself as she comes inside.
I have the 5x8, I think it is, in kind of a dark brown with black, which I think has been out of stock for awhile...I couldn’t have abided the bright blue or lime green colors.
Anyway, I would recommend this item.

We have a large mat. We have a big dog. Its nice when he has a clean area to lay down outside.
However in the Southeast there are a number of grassy parks that don't allow mats. They don't want the grass killed.

We use a medium sized mat of artifical turf....looks just like real grass. From Home Depot for just $21. Looks great. Rolls or folds quickly. Washes off with a garden hose, and drys in 30 mins. From about 20 feet away you would never guess it was synthetic grass.

I carry a really stout collapsible rake, a smallish rug, and a biggish rug. Gives me some solid options based on the situation at hand.
