What do you cook on/in besides the stove and oven?

Do you bring a gas grill? Do you fry inside or do you bring an outdoor stove? I'm thinking about being along a pressure cooker but am wondering if that will drain my batteries too much if I'm dry camping. Maybe I'm getting too fancy and should keep our meals simple like burgers and sausages. What do you folks eat when you're glamping?

gas grill for most meals, fry on the stove top. I have thought about taking my pressure cooker but it just is a bit large and heavy

Campground food is generally simple- pork chops, chicken, burgers, sausages-
We caramelize onions on the grill. We make foil packs of potatoes, onions, squash.
We make lots of things in a slow cooker. We eat cold cuts and tuna salad sandwiches.
We eat breakfast like a champ- everything from pancakes to sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, toast, biscuits, oatmeal-
Wet don't cook on the cook-top to keep clean-up simple and keep down on cooking odors in the trailer. We do similar at home- not much fried foods-

Camco/Olympian 5500 gas grill (first purchase), Cobb charcoal grill (great closeout deal at my CW), charcoal in firepit at campground, microwave/convection oven and cooktop in trailer. Just got an induction hotplate as a present that will be great for any cooking outside when shore power is available, looking forward to trying it out on the road, works great at home. Small crockpot at WM for 9.95, not yet used. Also just got a dutch oven after watching Maggie, John, and others cooking in them at Alumalina. Haven't used it yet, either.

Cobb charcoal grill.
If I'm cooking for a potluck, I plan ahead and bring a rice cooker and/or a crock pot, otherwise I'll leave them at home because they're too much of a pain to pack for feeding just me.

What do you cook on/in besides the stove and oven?

We've camped only 8 nights to date but so far, every meal has been cooked on the park provided grill or fire ring. Grilled steak for tacos, potatoes, eggs, Dutch oven from a tripod Irish stew, hot dogs, grilled Cornish hens, grilled corn on the cob, hamburgers, sweet potatoes & mini pumpkins in the coals, chicken kabobs, set a large opened can of vegetables on grill, etc...

We have one of those little oval Coleman foldup grills. If we don't want to cook on that we go to town to someplace nice.

One of our great pleasures of travelling is sampling the local cuisine. We can cook hot dogs at home.

For outside cooking we either use a Weber Baby Q propane grill or over a camp fire as long as we have decent wood.

My wife loves kitchen gadgets. She just got some sort of high tech pressure cooker that also browns, slow cooks and who knows whatever else. I’m thinking it can take the place of the crock pot, electric skillet and maybe a couple fry pans and stew pots.

Cob Grill most of the time. Hard to beat cooking with real charcoal.

Stove, grill, dutch oven

We like to cook and eat outdoors when conditions allow. We do use our AS cooktop and propane oven regularly when cooking inside. Outside, we use

- Coleman two-burner gas stove, from our tent-camping days
- Small tabletop propane grill (no brand name. Uses 1 pound gas canisters)
- Small dutch oven. This gets the least use.

We almost never cook over a fire or use a camp-ground provided grill.

We do not use any electric cooking appliances.

Dutch Oven, what's that about? If better do some research as that seems to be a popular appliance.

When we use to tent camp not much but with the AS you are only limited by the size of your TV and Storage space on the AS. I bring a Cobb and coleman grill and now that I just bought a griddle that will also come along. One or two of my favorite saute pans, handheld immersion electric blender, one full size espresso machine along with three other coffee pots, good knives.

More then I need and most of the time more then I use. But like a good carpenter you don't want to be without your tools.

I use stovetop, oven, and coleman grill (which I just started using) Mine has grill and a burner for pots. I am wondering...with coleman, do you all clean the whole grill , down under cook surface? I do not with gas grill at home, but do with coleman and it is a time consuming job everynite...is there a better way? We also heat water and do dishes outside. Thanks for help with the Coleman grill question.

Cast iron camp (with the legs) Dutch ovens outside! If you can cook a recipe in the oven in the house, you can cook it in a Dutch oven with charcoal (top and under). You control the temp with the quantity of briquettes top and under. We've adapted many recipes for our DOs, we even do great muffins (in foil liners) for breakfast and focaccia bread for dinner. Yummy!

What do you cook on/in besides the stove and oven?

- Galley cooking propane stove: light weight enamelware, scanpan skillet, cast iron fajita pan
- Convection/microwave: sidekick correlle dishes, pizza pan, fajita pan
- Outside Small "bucket style" charcoal grill and camp fire grate combo wood and charcoal
using same enamelware and fajita pan

Forum members are great for sharing their own experiences and I tried to follow their wisdom of limiting kitchen/cooking items to multi purpose items.

That being said, on my wish list: Cobb grill/oven, Kelley Kettle (just in case we would run out of propane while boondocking- no --- I'm not a prepper but really a much better person with my morning cup of coffee), and one more consideration is a Thermal Cooker. The good ones are pricey but for long distance trips, I think it would be great to prep a healthy dish while enjoying my second cup of morning coffee....pack the dinner in the Thermal Cooker.....travel to next destination and sit down to home cooked dinner without additional cooking!

We do almost all cooking outside so as to limit cooking odors, grease, etc. on the inside on those aluminum walls.
We use the Weber Baby Q gas grill for a lot of cooking. We have the griddle insert so this opens up lots of possibilities.
My other 2 go to cooking tools are my induction portable cook top (Max Burton brand) and my trusty, Fry Daddy (from when they were made in the USA). The induction cook top is great. Very quick even heat, just have to have induction compatible cook pots. We have a small aluminum folding table that we use as an outside cooking base for the induction cook top and the Fry Daddy.
I just recently picked up an almost new "Baby Cakes" muffin/cup cake from Craigslist for $10. So far I have made brownies, blueberry muffins, and jalapeno/cheese corn muffins in this. It is pretty small, so doesn't take up much space and works well when you are only cooking for two.
