No, regular cab not available with Ecodiesel. We'll miss the maneuverability of the short wheelbase but the inside space is good. Our preference was for a SUV, but cannot get anywhere near the price of a comparable pickup. There are huge markdowns on the trucks, not SUVs.

Bob, these new trucks are nice machines as you know. We've never had anything so fancy so are thrilled. We'll be hooking up early next month for a little tour AZ to Ohio (relatives and Jackson Center) to Minnesota with some stops along the way. We'll see how she does, we have good feelings about it.

What did you get for your Trailer today?
Ok, I know that this is not exactly a "get" yet but I cut open the OEM vinyl today finally getting up the nerve to look under it at perceived soft spots and found this:
NOTHING!!!! YES!
I cannot tell you how pleased I am. I have to get new vinyl but hey, the floor is good! I believe I may just flip the vinyl back and lay over it to keep the water barrier around the walls. Anyplace else I should look under on my floor plan?

oops. Forgot to say that I looked down the hall around the bath area, in front of the fridge, in the lounge area by the wall where there was a ridge-like feel with softness and also on the right side in front of the window in the lounge area- all dry and no staining. I previously had the carpet up when I installed it in the rear all dry there too.
So, what's the get? New LVT Invincible flooring from Carpet One in Aspen Plank. It is waterproof, is thin but has a 20 or 22 mil wear layer is commercial grade 10 yr. fiberglass/pvc core. It was as neutrally rustic as I could find without too much texture. Color matching in my AS was really difficult. Even from factory there are several colors, grains, etc. IMO, it matches better than the current vinyl. With all the wood colors, this one added better match with some rustic and also less specific grain pattern.

That seems like a good idea for extra storage as well, which would help in a 19 footer. thanks for the update.

It's not quite 'factory quality', but it allowed us to add an additional kid-sleeping space without removing the upper storage compartment, and it suits us pretty well for the time being! It supports my 100lb 11 year old just fine as you can see from the pictures below, and I've hung my 150lbs individually from each of the ring anchors riveted to ceiling with no signs of them pulling free. Hopefully this will be useful to others who are looking to make creative use of limited space!

See your posts often and that you've had a Ram 1500 for some time. Obviously you being full time, seems the 2500 was a recent choice. As a newer AS lay person also with some trips under our belt with absolutely no issues and a current model 1/2 ton GMC Sierra Denali of 9200 tow and 1488 TV ratings is within our 6300 max AS GVW ratings. Could you share some thoughts on personal justification for the new 3/4 (can guess payload and control concerns) more =more better but would like to hear your side as a real timer.

We've been fine with our 1500. And this whole time we've been within tire and axle ratings. Stability and towing haven't been an issue. The 5.7L Hemi has always performed well. But we also travel very lite. I have posted elsewhere on the forums the fact that I keep almost nothing in the bed of the truck outside of some jerry cans, our Honda generator and a ladder.
The upgrade is more about our lifestyle and what we enjoy. We used to have a heavily modified expo rig (expedition style vehicle), and we have gotten more into offroading again this year. The half ton is alright but doesn't have the chops.

The Powerwagon isn't a standard 3/4 ton truck. It features different axles and true lockers front and back with manual control. It provides a factory lift that is two inches higher than the standard 2500 4x4. Also, the Powerwagon comes with 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33 inch Goodyear Duratrac A/T tires from the factory. And the Powerwagon is also the only vehicle on the market that comes with a 12000lb warn winch from the factory. Also, almost forgot, it features something called hill descent mode, you just activate it and the computer will take you down any incline automatically.
The PW has the credentials offroad. Has more suspension travel than your standard 4x4 model too.
So for us it's more about what this truck is and not the need for more payload. The Powerwagon suffers there because of softer springs and D range tires over the standard E range and stiffer spring in the other 2500's.
This truck is going to serve as a base for an expo rig to allow some traveling beyond the Airstream. The 1500 allow is ok, but there is no room to start adding things like a rooftop tent, steel bumper, and carrying more gear.
Like I said elsewhere, if we wanted more payload and power I'd of bought a 2500 Cummins. This wasn't about that for us. I know a truck is a tool to some. To us it's a lifestyle. Cheers.
We just happened to pick up a Laramie version which doesn't have all the silly decals.

It's not fancy or expensive, but could save a load of dollars on rewiring the trailer. I got a $100 Camping World gift certificate for Christmas. I picked up a 30 amp surge and pedestal protector on sale for about $95 plus tax. I should have done it sooner.
