Camp Chairs

I have gone to a lot of music festivals and have broken more than my share of cheap fold-up chairs costing anywhere from $10 to $40.00. Campsmart makes a strong steel frame chair that is very comfortable. It is rated at 325 lbs but does not appear to be too large for the average person. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 200 lbs, and I can sit in this chair for a long time.

The colors are blue and gray so it is about perfect for an Airstream.

You can buy two of them now for about $50 including tax and shipping from Sams Club. The item number is 70746. You can buy them from Amazon also, but they are about $50 each. We bought two last week and ordered two more today.

Shallow Plug with 3 outlets

If you enlarge the photo above you will see a 40 ft yellow cord (#12 wire) with three outlets being used to provide power from the single receptacle in the side of our 66 Tradewind. This cord is normally used to feed power from our 1000 watt Honda genny. I found a much better cord for the job today at Lowes for about $9.00. It is black (will not show the dirt outside), has a shallow plug, is 9 ft long, 3 outlets and rated at 13 amps. This will be perfect for operating our fan, outside table lamp and one other item.

Rock Tamers at any price are worth the protection that they provide ... it is too late after the segment protection is dinged up.

returning the lafuma "transabed" chair as it proved for me not comfortable...

ordered from amazon a set of lafuma cham elips chairs that are an aluminum folding chair that has 3 reclining positions and supposedly ergonomic back design...we shall see what I think. took the advice of cpt fish and ordered a couple of the ph camp stools in the same color (obsidian) that act as foot rests or estra quick seating for guests.

Man, these Rock Tamers stink!
The smell was so strong I set them in the hall and I still smell them.
I wish I could take them home, but I rode my motorcycle to work.

Yes they ship the Rocktamers in the RAW mode. I can still smell the mothball type smell in the garage several weeks later even after being on the road with them.

I got those stinky things outta here and under the carport at the house.
I got them home while road testing a new hire.
They will stay under the carport till Friday, when I will put them in the bed of the pickup to ride to the campground (truck 'n' trailer are already hitched up) and I will install them and the Sway Jacket Brackets Saturday at the campground.
Those Rock Tamers are heavy, too- more on my tongue weight and payload of an already marginal 1/2 ton pickup...

Can't I just put some good mud flaps on the truck vs. those huge heavy rock tamers? They seem like overkill, maybe.

Of course you can. I bought the Rock Tamers because I didn't want permanently installed mud flaps on my truck. To get the same functionality, you're going to need really long flaps that nearly reach the ground though.

My truck already has "splash guards".
They don't cover well enough.
Rocks and mud still get on the front of the trailer.
The factory mud flaps protect the truck itself, not what it is towing.

New to us

Just picked up our awning material from the shop that cut it down to fit our awning roller tube. It was a new Carefree 20'5" vinyl that we bought from Featherbedder (Thanks Bill). Since there was 9+ feet remaining material we had 5 sling back and 5 sling bottoms (matching the awning) 4 made up to order to fit our newly designed '60's wooden camp/deck chairs. We made the 4 based on the original 5th chair. It has the new vinyl now too! The 4 new designed chairs were made wider for more comfortable seating between the arms. All are made from white clear maple stock and will be polyurethane coat finished natural. Still need hardware to assemble the 4 new chairs. I am shopping around for that today! Ed

Moon I have a nice set of Duraflap mud flaps on the truck. While they help they are low enough to do a good reduction on stuff being thrown back. Easy way to see if your mud flap setup is effective is to take a tape measure to long stick/piec of PVC, stick it under the back edge of the tire, touch it to the bottom of your mudflap and then back to the trailer. Anything below this imaginary line is exposed to stuff being thrown by the tires. (You can also stand behind the truck and eyeball it but using the tape or stick method makes it easier to see where it hits.)

When I am at home it is a quick two bolts to remove the Rocktamers from the ProPride Stinger. I only do the removal because I have a hanger on the garage wall of the Rocktamers. Stinger goes on the floor. It it is a standard ball hitch I used to leave them on the hitch and put the assembly on the wall.

I see I mistyped my post above. First two sentences should read.

Moon I have a nice set of Duraflap mud flaps on the truck. While they help they are NOT low enough to do a good reduction on stuff being thrown back.

You can get longer flaps that hang lower/closer to the ground.
