I may have 3-4" clearance under the Rock Tamers. They only drag occasionally in a parking lot dip- not enough speed to sling anything-

I found out the hard way, if the 'Tamers are too low, they suck stuff of the road and sand blast the front of the trailer. Now I set mine now by drawing a line from the belly pan to the bottom of the truck tire. That's as low as they need to go.

We have found that around here about 1/2" clearance between the RT and the ground optimizes the protection. We have a fairly stiffly sprung 3/4 T TV.
A tangent line for determining the ground clearance does not take into account the amount of curl from the wind blowing the flaps to the rear. While underway we generally have 3-4" clearance depending upon the speed - as it increases, so does the clearance. Low speed debris blown up by the RTs has not been a problem on any of our three recent AS. I actually have the bottom of the RT slightly forward of perpendicular to offset some of the curl due to higher speed airflow.

stocking up
Hooray, finally picked up the axle from Colin and have purchased and tested an electric tongue jack. A Butler, and only $134.99. SCORE. It was on sale at TSC (The Country Store, but we call it the sexy cowboy store).
Previous acquisitions include; lovely fabric, various rivet removing and installing essentials, brake controller, memory foam mattress, 12v and led lights, SS sink, taps.
MANY more purchases to come, get ready Steve at VTS, I'm a comin'.
Now, when spring comes...Liftoff.
I would like to be finished for Burning Man 2016. I think doable, and that leaves early 2016 to do some shorter trips.

Nice job on the pole barn in the NC mountains. Now you have the best of both worlds- a bricks and mortar home in Florada during the winter and an Airstream place in the mountains for the summer time.
