I don't think so. Try that 5th washer. I think you'll notice a difference in handling.

Your hitch package should have come with 5
If you don't have a spare, try to find one at a camping supply place or Equalizer. They may send one to you for free

Any grade 8 washer with the correct ID should work.

A nice bath a polish, I love. To see the water beading, then
I know I did my job right.

Dealer installed (incorrectly)-
I have no parts.
What will the fifth washer do?
We bought 10 Curt weight distributing hitches at work. Maybe there are some washers there. I will contact Justin Andrew at Progress Mfg. and get his input.

We have a Dodge Ram 1500 with dual exhaust - will this work for our truck?

Yes, in your case, you would angle the support arms down instead of up for the exhaust to clear the top.

I don't think they would work with the dual exhaust through the bumper- the exhaust would be right into the mud flaps and melt them. They smell terrible, anyway. I can't imagine how they would smell burnt...

Probably like the smoke from a girdle fire in a dryer in the girl's dorm at Hanover College years ago. The building was emptied of the ladies in their PJs and smoke billowed out until the fire was put out. Naturally the boys came to investigate.......

Again, they are designed for it. The angled arms at the hub allow you to flip them downward to route the support arms underneath the bumper exhaust. The exhaust will then exit over the top of the flaps.

Email Equalizer, they will send you washers in the mail if you are the original owner. Very nice people. They even sent me some new decals for the torsion bars.

But then wouldn't you have a free air space (unprotected) between the bottom of the bumper/exhaust tips and the top of the mud flap with the actual rubber part is only 3" tall- it would almost make more sense to cut holes in the rubber flap and have exhaust extensions sticking through-
Does anyone on here have a 2009-up Ram with Hemi and dual exhaust through the bumper and Rock Tamers? I just don't see how it could work.

It is still noisy with the Sway Bracket Jackets, cementing my opinion that the popping and clicking is coming from the hitch head.
What will the fifth washer do?
Rig looks level to me and 3" from the bottom of the mud flap to the ground-

I don't know if I can do any better than that on truck 'n' trailer being level. Looks good to me.

I fabricated aluminium shield that stand off the flap. No melting or degradation of the rubber even after many dpf regenerations and about 10,000 miles with both gas and diesel engines.

Adding washers allows the hitch to distribute more weight and provide more lift to the rear of your truck, as you described in an earlier post you made.
Pictures are a little misleading and only you know if the rig is not leveled. Have you been to the scales yet?
BTW your spot this weekend looked fantastic. The lighting storm must have kept you guys awake for awhile last night!

I have an '04 4Runner and I have 6 washers. Washers helped me to level mine out, kind of a tweak. I've raised and lowered the hitch, added washers until the wheel well measurements were in line with what the Equalizer documentation said. Your rig looks pretty level to me. I assume it handles OK. I think you're good to go if you don't have any problems with the rock tamer height.

Mine will pop and squeak at the sway bars in the L-bracket if any moisture gets between them. (Squeak is the sway bar going forward-backward, popping is the sway bar movement between the L-bracket and its retainer pin.) I put a small dot of grease under the sway bars (smear it on the bar and L-bracket) and that stops it. I know you aren't supposed to grease them but I use as little as possible. Sometimes just smearing the area with your finger will do the trick.

The rubber smell will go away, or did I just get used to it? My new tires smelled for about two weeks. Jim

Lewster is installing solar panels and new batteries right now! And I'm having coffee in Hood River.
