Outstanding, well done! Black Walnut is my favorite wood, next to western cedar for exterior project.

Small shelves

In a Sport 16, shelves from IKEA.

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/mosslanda-picture-ledge-white-40291766/#content

Great for keeping cups, cords, phones, glasses, etc. handy. I installed two in the kitchen and one by the bed. They have a little lip on the front that helps keep things in place.

Folding towel racks

In a Sport 16, I installed folding and extending towel racks in the kitchen:

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/brogrund-towel-holder-3-bars-stainless-steel-60426707/

They fold up against the wall for travel, and can be extended all the way out to let things dry overnight.

I've had the Haloview 7108 system for a while and the camera/monitor is great. The range is astounding, 500' at least? Considering the camera is inside the Airstream the signal never takes a hit. The lag doesn't seem too much (all digital devices have some lag due to losing a frame every time the signal is processed.)
The one challenge was, with the camera inside, on pitch black nights the IR lights come on and wash out the monitor. It's like taking a flash picture in a mirror. But Haloview has a fix, inside the camera is a jumper, remove that and the IR lights never come on. Even a streetlight is enough to see behind you. When I was going to replace the poor Garmin BC-30 camera with another Haloview, the guys at Tech Support came up with the CA-109, and a bracket to mount it. (That's their mockup in my earlier post)

I have the bracket reversed so it's more compact.
The pair is heavier than the old pair, so I'm installing a second RAM arm from the window frame to the cameras to support more of the weight. That's still a work in progress.
The new camera paired instantly with my monitor simply by powering it up while the monitor was in the 'pair' mode.
We have a stream of e-mails between me and Haloview's techs. They seem to enjoy thinking outside the box too.
I may be the first person to defeat the IR lights in the CA-109 (smaller) camera. They had to consult the R&D guys to see how it's done.

Hitchgrip Ball Mount Carrier

After watching an episode of Airstream YouTubers LUV SUBBIN' in which Rich used his homemade hitch carrier handle to jockey around his Equalizer Hitch, I decided I was going to find the parts to make my own.

That is until I found this clever invention, the Hitchgrip Ball Mount Carrier.

It is surprisingly simple and well engineered.

Do you have a link? I'd love one of these. We have the Can-Am million-pound reinforced hitch and it's a pain to align and in general maneuver.

Edit: found it, google to the rescue, $21. A little concerned it might hit our bumper but worth a try.

I have one and it works as advertised, it balances the weight.
But the jaws are very narrow. Be careful it doesn't slip out or your foot might be flattened. I use mine to remove the hitch and set it on a dolly. Not to carry it far.

Looks like the price went up some to $25 on Amazon.

Yes, I'll watch my feet when I use it. I haven't tried it out yet. What do you use for a dolly?

Install part deux.
It's finished (if there is such a thing)
Since the two cameras are heavier, they tended to get off center L/R. So I added a short RAM ball on the window frame to stop this.

My system is pretty unique, being inside the rear window. I removed the USB port on the nightstand and replaced it with a 12v. lighter outlet. It was easy, the old one had spade terminals and I just switched them to the new.
My cameras both have 12v. lighter plugs.
If you've ever taken a flash picture in a mirror, you know the reflection washes out everything, so I had to disable the IR lights on both cameras. (They only came on in pitch black, but it's annoying) It involves opening up the camera and removing a tiny jumper. Haloview CS was a big help, since I may be the first to open up the smaller camera. They checked with R&D, and I was fine.
The range is astounding, neither ever take a glitch. I'd estimate 500' or more easily.

I'll say my first real trip was a huge success. Both cameras paired, I can select either or a split screen.
Backing, I use the main camera to see behind me, then switch to the bumper cam to know when to stop backing.

The brace works great and makes the steps much more stable.

Phil was super responsive on emails and provided fast shipping.

I am a happy customer!

New TST 770 Display

We've had a TST 505 system since 2020 and it's been very reliable. The display is a little small for my old eyes especially when it's a bright day and I'm wearing sunglasses.

A friend from AF got the new 770 which has been out for a year so I checked it out. It's much larger, brighter and is a touch screen. They've made it much easier to program and added features like sensor swap for tire rotation.

It also has GPS (not for NAV) so you can track distance travelled. It has a magnetic mount on the back of the display so you can quickly remove it.

The challenge is where to mount it. The 505 was small enough to fit in the center top tray on our '19 RAM 2500 next to the HaloView rear camera monitor.

I kept the old Voyager ball mount and arm and was able to add it to the plate I made for the top tray. I found a Scosche flush magnetic mount and stuck it to the end of the Voyager plate. The 770 does not move once it's attached to the Scosche.

Both the 770 and the HaloView are low enough that you can see over them (still see the top of the RF fender).

Important: This is from the TechnoRV guide about a limitation of when your sensors were made...

Note: You can program cap and flow through sensors from the TST 507 model into the TST 770 monitor as long as they have a date code of 4519 (45th week of 2019) and forward. If they are older than that, they will not be compatible with the 770 monitor and they will not be recognized by the monitor when programming. We do sell individual sensors at TechnoRV if you would like to add to your system at any time.

I'm happy with how it turned out so far; will have to wait until spring to test everything.

*Last photo is the original 505 and Voyager monitor

I saw this on the Ultimate Airstreams Facebook page and sent him a message. He sent one back about a week later for $15. I sent him a link to this thread so he may respond.

In mine I took the rubber nub off the lock, inserted a small nylon washer over the camper lad, then pushed the rubber nub back on. It now stays in place during travel.

Help me understand.
How do you get "locked out"?
I know it happens but the device just prevents the lock from engaging, meaning YOU can't lock the door either!
Describe what happens in a "lock out". Does the door lock itself? What moves?

Lots of threads on this, including

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f45...ck-141909.html

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f45...ut-234734.html

The small locking latch inside is sometimes prone to accidentally engage when you slam the door to close it or inadvertently bump it when using the inside door handle to open the door. You don't know the latch is set to lock, you shut the door, and voila - locked out.

Some dealers will insert a felt washer to try to introduce some friction to prevent the latch from accidentally being knocked into the lock position.

This device just keeps the latch from being able to pivot. When you camp, keep it engaged until you're ready to lock it. If you need to lock it, unhook the "Lad" and the latch is free to lock. The nice thing about it is that when you intentionally want to lock the door from the outside, you'll have your key with you and no risk of lock out.

Now I see. It's only an issue if you close the door from outside without your key.
I bought a box of the "rubber brake adjustment plugs" to have but never understood the big picture.
