I think lots of time people are focused on the road, traffic, a conversation happening in the truck, or they just came around a corner in the road and did not have the time/presence to respond. We find that most people in the West will respond given the chance.

Not quite today, but a few days ago.

A new driveway mate for the AS, here on the side of the mountain.

Airboard Solar BRN Light

In preparation for our first Airstream rally (Alumalina), we purchased the solar four number stream light from the Airboard Shop. We love it!

The LP gauges on the trailer LP tanks were unreadable. It has taken since June to finally come up with 2 replacement LP gauges. This has been one of the tougher "wild goose chases" I have been on in awhile.
Rochester 5-1953
It probably took over a dozen phone calls and several different companies.
The first gauge was ordered in late July and arrived about a month later. The second gauge took to two months.
I ordered these from Nash Fuel. https://store.nashfuel.com

The gauges are magnetic. If you take a screwdriver you can rotate the gauge around. I didn't even try to find a duplicate with the remote read. It was tough enough just to find these. These seem to just as accurate as the old ones.

A 600w (800w total with a 200w portable suitcase) 400ah solar setup from AM Solar. Hoping to test out more boondock options. Added 2 easy starts for the air conditioners which radically decreased their start up amps. Click image for larger version

Removed factory dual USB-A outlet and replaced it with combination USB-A quick charge 3.0 and 65watt USB-C Power Delivery outlet. This USB-C outlet allows charging various devices, including my MacBook Air M1.

I dipped my toe in the solar pond by buying a Renogy solar suitcase 100w. I picked it based on size/weight/reputation.
I'm also replacing my unreliable Garmin BC-30 rear view camera with a Haloview CA-109. I actually have a regular Haloview CA-108 looking back, and the smaller 109 will look down on the bumper allowing more careful backing. Both piggyback on a RAM arm INSIDE the rear window, so I'm bringing back the cigarette lighter style outlets instead of the USB. The Garmin has terrible resolution and is bluetooth, to the GPS, but seems to get interference from the Level Mate Pro, so it's bye-bye.
I'm also replacing my propane pigtails with stainless braided ones.

What Did You Get For Your Trailer Today?

@mollysdad would love to hear how the Holoview works and any install tips and challenges.

I also received today a Renogy suitcase to supplement my 600w of rooftop panels. I own an older Renogy 100w suitcase and thought the 200w panel would be a good upgrade. It has the included 20a PWM controller which I might swap out for a spare Victron 100/20 I bought some time back. At $340 shipped it’s a great deal. It’s noticeably bigger than the smaller suitcase so I’ll be planning to test them both when sun returns to the PNW on July 5th…

I had some spare 10g solar cable lying around and a kit of MC4 connectors and crimping tool from Amazon and made up a 20ft extension cable for the Renogy. The stock Renogy cable is pretty short and you’ll want extra length if you have partial shade to cope with. It was super simple DIY with the kit. Also bought this SAE/MC4 adapter to easily plug the panel into the Airstream Zamp port, as the Renogy only comes with alligator connectors to the battery.

Smile What the?

I did a brake inspection and discovered that two of my electric brakes had broken wires and one pair of worn out brake shoes (could the other wheel compensate for braking when one is busted?). Plus the two shocks on the passenger side lost their retaining nuts. My Globetrotter has Never Adjust and Never Lube brakes and bearings respectively, but they aren't Never Inspect. lol: My Airstream got one new pair of shoes.

I installed a IRVWPC water pump quieting kit and a Sureflo flexible hose kit to see if I could quiet down the pump.

It made a bit of a difference but not completely quiet. It is much smoother operation. We are heading out for some cold weather camping tomorrow and will see how it does.

I wanted the camera inside since there was power and it would be out of the weather. I read stories of Voyagers leaking and Furrion seems to either be great or terrible.

Being inside left me wondering if the signal could get out of the aluminum "Faraday cage". So I guess I was a test dummy. Happy to say it's perfect. I can actually drive away and still see the camera 200' away.
The one downside of the window install is the IR lights that come on when it's pitch black. Then everything is washed out, like taking a flash photo in a mirror. Haloview has a 'fix' and by opening the camera, and unplugging a tiny three lead connector, the lights no longer come on.
As far as the install, I drilled into the center divider of the overhead cabinet, installed a "threaded insert" and screwed a 1" RAM ball into that. Then a long RAM arm, and another ball on the camera hood. I has to be right against the glass so I had to cut the screen. I never open that window anyway. The Garmin BC-30 is being replaced with a Haloview CA-109 second camera looking down at my bumper. It will pair to the same monitor. The 7" monitor (7108) is mounted on a RAM arm in a cup holder, and shares the arm with the TPMS.

I bought the Renogy 100w. suitcase due to size and weight. It's about 20# and 20" x 20" folded. In the case (nice) it's larger. The 200w. is double everything. 40# was just too awkward for me, and the size is hard to store in the truck.
I bought a 30' MC-4 extension by Geosiry. It's 8 awg and enclosed in a sheath. Nice. I went big because the loss would be less. I don't like the "Battery Jumper" clamps on the Renogy, so I'll find a adapter MC-4 to SAE-2 and use the Zamp connector on the battery box. (I do mean 'find' because I bought one months ago and can't find it now. Too many projects half done!)
I hate that there's one MC-4 that requires a 'tool' to separate the two parts. Grrrr.

I had to adjust the pressure on the pump up a bit and then set the IRVWPC to the desired pressure to fine tune the noise when in full flow. It’s not silent but it’s much better.

How did you adjust the pressure? I would try that too, is it just a matter of swapping out a part on the pump?

On the front of the pump towards the bottom there is an Allen head screw that you can turn to adjust the pressure. It has a limited range and doesn’t take much to adjust. A full turn either direction makes a big change. At least this is the way my pump works….4008-101-A65

Not today but this year at least, we had a new electric system installed including 10x100W solar panels, 6x100Ah BB batteries, Victron Multiplus II and the 7" Cerbo panel to monitor everything. Installed by The Dry Campers in March and has worked flawlessly since it was first turned on. I would highly recommend them for a first class installation.

Thanks! The table is just under 3/4" thick and it's about an inch longer in width and length than the stock table. The finish is three coats of Waterlox Original semi-gloss. They describe it as a resin-modified tung oil.
