Troutboy,
Thanks for the compliments. I have just shared my recliners install. Reconfigured the bedroom queen into twins last spring and have been happy with that change. Search: Anyone with 38 x 80 twin beds? I made a porthole window for bathroom also. Search: Bathroom Porthole Window Interest? Many other changes that seem to never stop to make our trailer our own.

The furnace was not changed at all. I just rerouted the ductwork into the small box on end of lounge. Brenda uses the box as an end table. The top snaps off for access.
Thank you,
Ron

Both great mods Ron. Excellent work.

I see you have a 27’ Flying Cloud. I have a 27’ Globetrotter with the twin beds. There is a wardrobe closet at the foot of our street side bed. Was there a closet at the foot of yours that you had to remove or, is their not one on the Flying Cloud?

New blinds in the kitchen.

Hi, the old, original, kitchen blinds were just yucky. After seventeen years of use and no way to make them look good again, my wife said to replace them. I did some on-line searching and found nothing from Airstream. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and they had huge ones that could be cut down to size. I didn't like that idea either.

I searched on line again and found "Just Blinds". I measured my old one and found a tag on it showing that it's 21"s wide and 23"s long. So I ordered one with the same dimensions. There was nothing in the description telling me the size of the mounts, so I took a $18.90 gamble. [free shipping]

The size of the new blinds were the same on the control head, but the brackets were steel instead of plastic and had different hole locations. I decided to use the original plastic brackets. The new blind was 1/8" longer than my original so I slotted the two holes to make it fit. Ironically, the lower bar was too short to fit in the holders and I'm not drilling new holes. I was able to slide the bottom end pieces out about 1/16" each and that fixed that problem.

I'm happy with the outcome of this job.

The flying cloud queen bed model does not have any cabinets at the foot of the bed. I do plan to make a custom hamper at the foot of the street side bed on our twin bed conversion.
Thank you for the compliment.

Furnace thermostat upgrade

I upgraded the old analog furnace thermostat to a new digital thermostat.
Two wires and two screws - very simple upgrade. I can't take any real credit because this was someone else's idea here on Airforums.
We used it over the weekend at our unit installation rally where the temperature went into the 30's at night.
Overall the trailer felt more comfortable as the old thermostat was not as sensitive and allow the furnace to run a bit longer and get very hot in the trailer. The temperature seemed much more even with the new thermostat. The unit displays room temperature and the numbers are easy to read at a quick glace.

Has anyone come across a range vent fan outside flap that can be latched from inside the trailer? Our ‘20 22FB has a Baraldi vent, and the outside part is already missing the flimsy twist latch on one side. The bigger issue is needing to run out in the cold/dark/rain, or take my chances on setting off the smoke detector.

Finally got my Thule step installed. I found this on craigslist for 100 bucks. Unused by the previous owner as he couldn’t get it installed on his RV.

When I explored the mounting of this, I discovered that the mounting rails had predrilled holes for the slightly narrower Thule. I just moved the clips over to the other holes and had to add one more hole to the step frame on either side and that was it. Bolted up without issue and is very tight.

I like the east start RV thermostat controller. It seems to work well and the Bluetooth connection is great. No longer need to get up at night to adjust temp etc. it’s great. Other than that, it’s just a thermostat and works well. If you don’t care about the Bluetooth I’m not sure it’s worth upgrading the stock unit.

We installed theMicro-Air thermostat over a year ago and I really like it. The bluetooth and wi-fi (when available) features are great.

One of my favorite features is that the display can be put in sleep mode and will wake up with just a touch. And you can control how bright it is. Great for adjusting in the middle of the night.

I'd get it again if that helps!

I bought some cool, lightweight plates and bowls. These stack really nice and are BPA free, microwaveable, made from bamboo and corn husks, so environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Greetings!

It has been a while since I posted but I will share that I got my '06 Safari ceramic coated by Vinnie's in late July. Recently I ordered a new stove to replace the Amana (just because) and am in a pickle. The old stove is sitting on the floor and the new one next to it. The new stove is a Suburban 3636A. A beautiful stove but... the advertised cutout size on the brochure and on the website say almost the exact size as my old stove. The install papers in the box say something totally different. I want the stove but it will require major change to the kitchen cabinet- yikes.

Bummer on your stove issue. I’d love to see pics of your ceramic coating job, now and over the next year or two.
