Thanks! Here’s the dimensions:

The slats are 1 5/16” wide. I came up with that dimension by adding up all the slats and estimating 1/8” gap between them. When you add it all up you’re right at the 20” mark. The board was 4/4 Teak, surfaced two sides and measured .915” thick. I split that down the middle with a thin carbide blade so the finished slats are around 5/16”. I cut a piece off the original board to 28” long then cut 4 pieces 1 5/6” wide. Once I had those blanks I turned then on their side and split them down the middle. *I don’t have a thickness planer so I ran the off-fall slat through the saw to make sure they’re both the same thickness.

The cleats are 3/4” square but you could make them 3/4” x the original thickness of the board (.915”). I did use Hillman #8 x 3/4” Stainless Steel screws, item #823462. You’ll need 48 screws so I bought a box of 100 for $10. I had an adjustable Makita countersink/driver that worked great - drilled down to the stop which put the screws about 2/3 way into the slats. The 3M rubberized non-slip covers the countersinks.

The other dimensions are on the photo below. Hope that helps!
Jeff

Sikins cetol is a better product
we use that on IRON wood/IPE

BTW, you should use SS screw else rust will eat the screws

HA! The DW said I could make ‘em to sell. I’m not set up for that, wish I had a thickness planer. One was enough for me but thanks for the thought

How much is a thickness planer? Could totally Presell these, buy your planer and start knocking them out. I don’t need one tomorrow [emoji6]

I’m sure Jeff is flattered with the comments as he did an outstanding job with this one. Looks to me that in Jeff‘s signature he is RETIRED!
However; he has laid out the steps for anyone who wants recreate these at $150 a pop or significantly less than the AIRSTREAM store.

Thanks GOUSC!

Thanks GOUSC, you are spot-on! I wanted to show how simple it was and encourage others to try it themselves. If anyone has questions about the process just shoot me a PM.

By the way, my wonderful daughter-in-law made me a shirt for my 65th birthday. I love it!

Hi Mark,

That looks like a pretty tiny tool box!

But seriously, that a great idea! Sure beats tossing the hitchhead into the dirt.

Nice work.

Since I’ve got Rock Tamers on mine It won’t fit on a mount like that, so I’ve taken to popping the ball back into the trailer coupler and letting the whole thing just hang there. It does take a second person to pull the coupler release while I hold the weight of the assembly, but it beats dragging the contraption around town everywhere.
