What Did You Get For Your Trailer Today?

We did not care for the entry look of the grease board along with the cheap-looking cast hooks, so we replaced the hooks with an UMBRA that has six-folding hooks. the wood finish matched perfectly with the wall. Also replaced the grease board with painting from a local artist.

The UMBRA hooks were found at the local ACE store for about $32.00. The UMBRA website has a lot of nice looking contemporary accessories.

I probably should be buying stuff to restore it, but I couldn't help myself and bought some vintage aluminum canisters and a bread box! Now if I can keep from buying dishes and glassware till I actually start restoring it, that would be great!

I was thinking about purchasing this (see attached) 10" Southamption Ultra Plush mattress from Airstream.

I wanted to check with "y'all" to see if any of you have purchased the style mattress from Airstream, and if so, do you have any Pros/Cons to share.

I finally ordered a ProPride hitch. I had been giving it some thoughts for a while and almost did not go through with it. It certainly is not cheap especially when you factor in the exchange rate for us Canadian. But in the end I figured that the safety it provided was worth the price. Having never towed anything in my life I just wanted one less thing to worry about . I had some newbie questions that Sean was always nice enough to answer quickly. Now I can't wait to receive my AS and put everything together. I am still waiting on the new TV I ordered but that should be here by the end of March.

When I picked up the 2013 25FB International Serenity, I slept on the stock 7" mattress the first night on the dealership lot. Sure wish the President of Airstream had tried it once as well. We immediately ordered the 8" Rocky Mountain Mattress. We had already ordered the 600 thread cotton sheets from Airstream and they fit the 8" mattress perfectly and would have been loose on the 7" stock mattress. The 8" was just the same height of the nightstand.

When the 2014 Classic was being built, I had Airstream NOT install their twin mattresses and we put the 8" Rocky Mountain twin mattresses in after it arrived. We have the 600 thread Airstream bed linens here as well.

We splurged for the 23D and installed the 10" Rocky Mountain mattress. We have their custom sheets and one advantage is they put a pocket in the foot of the top sheet so it does pull up when we are sleeping.

When the time comes to replace the Classic's 8" mattresses, we would seriously consider their 10" twins for the replacement.

I am afraid I will only have the real number when I receive it. It's the 502A with technology package, tailgate step,and tow mirrors so all these reduce somewhat the payload. How is yours equipped?

Our 2016 F-150 4x4 Supercrew with 3.5L Ecoboost also has the 502A pkg. The other options are the max trailer tow pkg., the power mirror tele/glass/fold, tailgate step, 36gal. fuel tank, and the technology pkg. The payload on the door jamb says 1693 lbs. I went to the scales when it was brand new, topped off the gas tank, and weighed the empty truck to get the real payload which is about 1725 lbs. If I am running near capacity I might not fill the tank with a full 36gal to add payload.

That's great to hear,ordering a TV exactly how you want it instead of taking one from the lot means you are never really sure of the actual payload until you receive it. I was ready to live with something in the 1500 lbs range so 1725 lbs is excellent. I will report back with actual number once I receive it.

Used ours while camping at St Josephs Peninsula State park in Florida. Was easy to setup and plenty of room for a small table and two large reclining camping chairs.

Ok, so this isn't new (I did this last December), but I wanted to share our take on a kid-sized bunk in our 19' Bambi. We have a family of 5+big dog that we do weekends and holiday trips, and packing 5 people into a 19' trailer can be challenging. Luckily for us, our youngest is 8 and still has some growing to do, so she doesn't require a 'full size' sleeping accommodation. Our solution (for the time being) was to add a temporary hanging bunk for her to sleep on (the older two sleep on the converted dinette, the adults in the bed below the bunk, and the dog on the floor).

This won't work for everyone given the space constraints, but for us it was the perfect solution to our space problems. The cot is 52" long (ECR4Kids kiddie cot from Amazon), the chains are attached to brackets riveted through the support members behind the ceiling skin (with long heavy duty rivets), and the sides are just hooks riveted (or screwed) to the aluminum interior skin (or in the case of the footboard the wood paneling).

I spent a lot of time researching and analyzing how to do this before I attacked it, and settled on this removable hack. It's not quite 'factory quality', but it allowed us to add an additional kid-sleeping space without removing the upper storage compartment, and it suits us pretty well for the time being! It supports my 100lb 11 year old just fine as you can see from the pictures below, and I've hung my 150lbs individually from each of the ring anchors riveted to ceiling with no signs of them pulling free. Hopefully this will be useful to others who are looking to make creative use of limited space!

Had one of those a few years ago. It got crushed in a move.
Only used it a couple of times but it did seem to work well. I remember doing Cornish hen, they came out nice and juicy
