No biggie, it just didn't make sense to spend $500 to move a 24 year old ac unit to pour the pad....and it is a lot more economical to replace the 24 year old furnace at the same time. It needed to be done anyway. Living on borrowed time.

Slightly off topic: As someone who makes a living in the HVAC field, I would expect that at least you have some savings on your bill to look forward to this summer. Your heat -of- summer electrical will likely be ⅓ to what it was with a old (probably 8 or 10 SEER) unit. I recommend to get a programmable thermostat and use it also.

I understand. My Airstream garage turned into a new condenser and evaporator last spring- and then a roof, and then a washer/dryer, then a bunch of medical expenses, then a new car- I give up!

No doubt, both the present units are OLD contractor grade PIGS!! Up here, the consensus is, put money into a furnace and not so much in A/C. Single stage 14.5 seer, but furnace will be 2 stage variable speed 97% efficient ("up to" on those) with an evaporator that will get the energy company rebates and tax credit. I use a Nest 2.0 already and it is compatible with the chosen units.

Stained glass project completed

Completed the new stained glass inserts for the vista view windows and installed them today. We removed the old geometric designs we made last year and replaced them with this reef scene. The fourth window, on the curb side by the front door, has a lone turtle. The skylight insert is from the original set we made but blends with the new set so we left it as is. The recent lousy weather actually helped. We were stuck inside enough to give me time to finish them before we get back on the road in 2 weeks.
