Sometimes it's the little stuff I get obsessed with most.

Virtually all marine-type city water inlets have plastic caps, but I tracked down this one with stainless cap and chain. I attached a hose to make sure the threads are smooth and easy to use. It's beautifully made.

The only one I could find was on eBay, and I haven't tracked down a source for another yet. The manufacturer is Sierra Marine Engine and Drive Parts, owned by Teleflex Marine.

There is no pressure regulator integrated into it, but VTS sells one that installs on the business end of the hose.

Interior Refresh

Last winter I reupholstered and made new insulated curtains to update the look. I was never a fan of the original colors.

Portable Solar

I camp without electricity a lot so I wanted a way to extend my trips between recharging. I wasn't expecting much from a portable set of panels because everything about them is wrong. Small wiring, charge controller 35 feet from the batteries, etc., But I have to admit I'm impressed by their performance. 8.5 amps is nothing to sneeze at.

I also installed the Trimetric battery monitor because 90% of the fun of solar is seeing how much energy you're using and how much you're making back.

Mattress Replacement

I've been sleeping with a camp pad between the mattress and the plywood base for years by two weeks ago I finally decided to buy an 8 inch memory foam mattress from Amazon. Wow, wow, wow what a difference for $209.

DW decided to go nuts and bought what seems like 20 of these rubber band wall things. I initially was disgusted by them then I realized that they actually work great for holding things snug against walls. I even stole a couple to hold the tooth brushes and combs against the wall in the bathroom. Pretty slick

That looks incredible, right out of a magazine!

My wife just littered our interior with these rubber band wall holders. At first I was upset then I found myself using them, they are pretty neat.

TinLoaf,

I am curious as to which portable panels you got. Care to share?

Thanks,

I got the Solarland 120 on clearance when they first upgraded to the 130. The funny thing is they're rated for 7 amps and I consistently net more than 8 amps in good sun.

You pay a lot for the portability. If I were to do it all over again now that I'm more knowledgeable about solar, I'd buy a good charge controller and install it up by the batteries, larger wire, and a few higher quality panels... for less money. Still, I'm more than satisfied.

Here's the link: Solarland

Rod Holder

I always have fishing rods laying on the bed that need to be moved. This ceiling-mounted locking rod holder works perfect. And in keeping with the Airstream spirit, I mounted it with rivets.

Cup Holder

The street side of the trailer has the fold up table but the curb side had nowhere to set your drink. Problem solved.

Bright orange foam "pool noodles" to cover the awning struts. Easier to see and softer on the head.
