What Panama Red said. Take a look a some of the online videos about how easy it is to defeat some of the other hitch locks, including a regular padlock. You know what they say: make your stuff more trouble to get than the others around you, and your stuff will probably be safe.

Hi, No, absolutely not. Here's why; I use a lock on my tongue latch, I also use a coupler lock. When I just want to pull my trailer forward to work on it, I remove the coupler lock, and use a 2" ball which fits right in without unlocking the latch. Anyone could drop your trailer's locked latch coupler onto a 2" ball and drive off with it.

A thief just wraps your safety chains around his truck receiver/stinger and drives away, with the locked coupler and all.

...which is why we've started running a big padlock through loops in the trailer's safety chains while it is parked. One more thing to raise "pain in the rear" factor for someone thinking about borrowing our trailer. If they're going to do that, the least they could do is bring their own chains.

We have a piece of 1" rebar loop in an opening strategically embedded in the driveway slab that we lock the safety chains to when stored. The thief that can drag it out driveway and all hasn't been born yet...and I have secondary defenses we won't talk about here lest it get silly again...

Perhaps those nice police wheel locks on all the trailer's tires would slow the theft parade down some? Of course they are quite heavy as well which could negatively impact useful load....
Trying to cut them off with a torch would blow the tires...

Got a pair of these from my days of owning more motorcycles...
Use 'em together, threaded trough the spokes of both wheels on one side of the trailer. Hopefully the hardened chain would slow down the crook.

If they REALLY want it, they're going to get it, but as someone stated earlier, they'll pick the low hanging fruit. Like the old joke, "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you!" All you need to do is make yours a pain in the butt, so the other guy's looks easier...
My trailer's appearance still says, "I've been abandoned" so I've got that going for me... Who wants to steal an abandoned trailer with Airstream Pattern Baldness?
-Red, lockless in all the wrong places...

A Double Step
Received and installed a double step on my 2001 25' Safari. So much easier to board!
I used the 24" Stromberg Carlson aka Lippert step i got from Amazon. I had to drill two holes in the step frame to line up with the mounting rail on the trailer since the step was deeper than the original and drill two holes in the mounting rail since the new step was wider. With that, still only 30 minutes of actual work.

Hi, you'll love the double step on your Safari; My 2005 model came with them, I think it was the first year for them on Safari's.

Camping World sells a pair of short screw jacks to go between the lowest step and the ground to reduce stress on the step assembly from excited kids or more ample adults going in and out.

Get a lot of tubes of rubber cement and build up a tire on the wheel?
At least the "tire" would not go flat from loss of air.

A "Guaranteed No Blow-Out" tire? Switz has come up with the LTXSS!
