We also have a 26u with twins and really like the mattresses. Even more after I added 3" to the width of the mattress support so the mattresses don't try to slide off all the time.

The stock mattresses in new Airstreams are pretty low quality. They are just single density polypropylene foam. Probably cost Airstream less than $100 a mattress to source.

I threw mine out and bought a natural Tallalay latex foundation with tufted down topper as replacement and custom layered it to fit the back riser. Cost about $1200.

The mattress in my 2011 20' FC is too firm. I added a 1 1/2" memory foam topper and cut it to shape. I also bought a twin size topper for when I convert the dinette into a bed.

The best place to store the dinette topper is, of course, on top of the other topper on the mattress for a VERY comfy total of 3". BTW, the best prices can be had just after the college students go back to school. Target usually discounts them in early Sept.

Thermarest pads are awesome. At first I was like, $100 for an air matress?!?!" Then I slept on one.

That's odd. I found the mattress in our 2014 FC to be excellent. We did put a topper on it because we were expecting it to be terrible, but slept the first week without it since it arrived late. We didn't need it.

The mattress in our 07 classic was, and still is, very comfortable.

Been there, done that extensively as a Boy Scout Adult Leader years ago. Three Eagle Scouts in the family later, youngest one of them acquired our shared family airstream. Much more comfortable on a well-aged back...😀

Ian, look forward to your report. Thanks!

I bought my heated mattress pad at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Went for the pricier Sunbeam version with the dual controls. Invariably, the mate, dog, parakeet or whatever one sleeps with has a different opinion when it comes to temperature.

The stock mattress that came in our new 2014 International Signature is pretty terrible. After we added a 3" memory foam topper it became tolerable, though still not great. At some point, we'll replace that bed sandwich with a good mattress. We will not be buying any mattress products from Airstream and our dealer, given how bad the original mattress was.

The first night at the selling dealership in the 2013 25FB International Serenity (built in June 2012), the factory 7" mattress spoke loudly about being replaced soon!

We replaced it with an 8" Rocky Mountain Mattress and we were able to use the custom sheets we had ordered from Airstream as they would have been too loose on the 7" factory mattress.

I left the factory 2014 Classic twin mattresses at the factory and put in twin 8" Rocky Mountain mattresses. We will upgrade to the 10" models someday in the future as we really like the 10" Rocky Mountain mattress we put in our 2015 23D International Serenity to replace the stock mattress which I disliked on the trip back from the selling dealership.
