"That's good, I suppose, because classifications or categorizations of people tends to be meaningless or counterproductive or worse."

Then why does it seem we always want to set-up little subsets within our subset? "Seniors Rally", "SOB's", Silver Sisters, WBCCI, VAP, Etc.

Red face McDonald's senior discount?

Gosh I thought the reason they were giving me a discount was because I had my 81 year old aunt with me.....forgot about MY gray hair...

Old? Depends on what day of the week it is and if we are lying under the Airstream and can actually get out without calling for assistance. (We have thought about one of those little buttons around our necks, but I don't think the EMS guys would look in the barn under Moby)

Old? We still remember when Elvis was discharged from the Army, gas was 25cents (22 during a "gas war", you could get a root beer for a nickel and a cherry coke for a dime, and could go to the movies with $1.00 and get popcorn and a drink and still get change back.

But I wouldn't trade places with any of the younger gang right now.... I don't have the energy to do it over!

Oh my gosh...I remember going to the movies on Saturday morning and seeing Flash Gordon and Roy Rogers for a dime. My sister and I walked several blocks alone and felt safe. I remember when Elvis went IN to the Army. I'm going to bed, I'm too old to be up this late.

Tickets to the Saturday morning matinees were first $.09 - and then they went up to $0.11. I never could figure out what was wrong with $0.10!

Looking forward to meeting good people, no matter the age

We should be picking up our new AS this Friday -- keeping my fingers crossed. In any event, I'm looking so forward to meeting good old fashioned nice people -- they come in any age. Since i'll be staying alone often in the AS this summer since I'm a teacher and my fiance is a pilot, I actually said to him, "I can't wait to meet fun people at the camp sites. i especially like meeting people my grandparents age because they are filled with wonderful stories and are lots of fun." I met such a nice couple in their 80's a couple of summers back while I was tent camping. Although we live 1,000 miles apart, we remain friends. Even though there are "younger" people seeking "younger" people, just know that there are those of us out there who just want to meet NICE people, and could care less how old anyone is.

It seems to vary - I've heard of folks living over 120

Seniors

I feel like a twenty year old.
Unfortunately, there isn't one around.
Sixty-four and loving it.

"Remembering" now isn't near as bad as trying to tell your girlfriends parents what the movie was about way back then!!! We used to meet her parents after the movie to bowl a game or two. If they had ever decided to interogate us separately we would have been in a lot of trouble! When we didn't get together for bowling I often met her dad to go fishing at his favorite bridge. Those fishing trips would sometimes last until 3 or 4 a.m. Fortunately, her dad was the quiet type and didn't ask too many questions!
