WBCCI questions

Did receive a year free in the WBCCI and joined the So. AZ Club for $7 and received stickers for the front and back of the AS.

IF I do not care to stay a member, do you think the decals (numbers) will come off easily?

Is WBCCI by it's nature a philanthropic group? It seems that the unit I would belong to is digging up artifacts, ect. for some park.

I don't mean to be a member of the "me" generation (which our sons are ) BUT what happened to caravanning (?) to just see places....

We now live in Tucson and would like to see Mexico with a group...a little reticent to go on our own.....

Do we need to join a different unit?

Should we forget Wally?

AZ Unit

The Arizona Unit does not appear to be very active towards going on interesting rallies, unless its to the Int'l. My wife and I have been members for a year and a half and have not felt the desire to go on any of their rallies, nothing really sparks our interest. We joined to become members of the Vintage Airstream Club. Membership in the VAC requires you to be a member of WBCCI beforehard. We've recently attended a VAC in southern CA and really enjoyed the group from the San Bernadino unit. We joined up with them also.

Caravans

Kisler,

The caravans are usally setup by members that enjoy doing that sort of thing for all WBCCI members to participate in. The Blue Beret has small write ups about upcoming caravans that you can sign up for. I do not see any Mexico ones on the schedule for 2003 as a national caravan, but there may be a regional one. The biggiest issue you face is getting a slot. The schedule in the Blue Beret for the national caravans list 15 caravans and 9 of those are aleady filled and have filled the standby list as well.

Using the old rule when travelling to look for the resurant that has the most cars in the lot for lunch, when you do not now the area to find the best food..... This tells me that the caravans are well done and popular.

You may want to contact your Region President and ask if they know who in you region you might contact to find out if such a Caravan is already in the works. He is Jim Franklin and his e-mail is jbfrank@theriver.com.

You may also want to check out the Region 11 site to see other happenings in your region.

Survey site doesn't work for me; I get an email form????

I thought that Wally Byam was into travel....guess the focus has changed over the years.

My numbers came with intallation instructions. How hard will they be to remove? I think I shall wait to put them on my trailer until I see how interesting/useful Wally's group is.

I certainly can't beat the inital year's dues.... and the unit dues are/were only $7.

There may be some non-published caravans

At a rally, just a couple of days ago, our unit discussed having a non-sanctioned caravan. Looks like it may happen.

A sanctioned caravan has to be of a certain minimum length and stop at a minimum number of places.

What we discussed is one of our members who has some specific knowledge of an area leading a group of us on a caravan. There would be no WBCCI sanction because it wouldn't meet the rules. Therefore, no one out side our unit (and maybe some friends) will know about it. It won't be found in the Blue Beret.
