But I like coming home to a warm house, with faucets that have running hot water
You could always move to Iceland; all the hot water you could ever want is just piped into everyone's house. Free heat/HW!!!

I heard they used all those pans to make Airstream trailers.

The question was:

What were they doing with all those used tires before the time of rubber flip-flops and recycled rubber mats ?

The answer is: Plenty.

The Net will take you anywhere: I just found a very interesting manual by the US Army Corp of Engineers: "Design of Coastal Revetments, Seawalls and Bulkheads" where they extensively used old tires. Don't forget artificial reef.

You see, in the end, all was not PR.

Now if I only knew what to do with this "Design of Coastal Revetments, Seawalls and Bulkheads" in southern Virginia, that would be great.
