The original frame is fine for a grey water tank that is mounted immediatley behind the rearmost axle, or behind a single axle. A capacity of 25gal is ok, and will fit between the frame rails without modifying the cross members. Been there, done that. Worked great. One shoudl never drive far with a full grey tank anyways.

We purchased a new Safari, used it for a few years, and decided that what we really wanted was the best of both worlds. So we sold it and purchased a '69 Globetrotter with 'great bones' and a mostly modernized interior (all new appliances, etc).

There's still plenty of work to be done (mostly cosmetic) and it's completely camp ready.

We're lovin' life. YMMV.

As an architect I am asked, an old house or a new building? The same is valid here: One likes the old things or lives rather in a new construction. With my Cruiser I build a good compromise, the most modern technology in old cover......
