It's YOUR trailer, do it the way you want it done! UNLESS... you plan to sell it down the road... then you might want to leave it a little more tame as the next person might not care for your 'custom' job and it may be harder to sell. Then again, if you're a superb interior designer, it may make it easier and you'll get more!
I think I said somewhere in another post... Wally Byam constantly changed and upgraded the trailers when he thought he found something that he liked better, worked better, or looked better. IMHO, what's different about updating one of the older trailers to make them more friendly, comfortable, or convenient? That's what Airstreams are all about. Many of us are comfortable with the factory interior decorating. Many aren't. If you're not, make it the way you want it.
I hope my earlier comments in this thread were taken tongue-in-cheek as that's certainly how they were intended. Sneakinup... your interior is going to be VERY custom, and one you can be proud of. Enjoy it!
