I'm bringin up this old thread because I am beginning to wonder what's up with the Vintage Advantage newletter. I just realized that my membership ran out last month, though I was not notified, I just happened to be looking at an old Vintage Advantage as I was filling it and noticed the membership expiration date on the label. But anyway, what is more disturbing is that my year ran out and I only have two newsletters to show for it. Surely they are trying to put out more than that in a year? I don't see anywhere where it says specifically, but it implies quarterly. Has there been an issue since Volume 11, Q2, 2004?

Sounds like by the time you get it, the magazine itself is vintage.

I would like to continue my subscription but....

Just checked my last newsletter label. It looks like my subscription expired last month, and I haven’t received any offers to renew. In the last 12 months I received three newsletters. The first said Q1, 2002 (received in 2003), the second said Q3 (received in 2003) and the third was Q2, 2004 received this year. It appears only one newsletter is produced in each calendar year. If they still advertise the newsletter as being quarterly I suggest they be a little more honest with their own expectations and perhaps amend it to say “published as often as we are able”. I do have to say I enjoyed the three copies I got, and they were very well done. I also have some sympathy for the publishers because I know what a grind it can be to get contributors, photos and time to do a good newsletter. Nonetheless, I’m thinking I won’t be tracking them down to send in another subscription payment. I will guess, based on current performance, that the newsletter is likely dead in the water due to a declining subscriber base.

The VAC has never sent out reminders to renew membership - for 20 bucks I think I get a lot. Every body involved with the VAC is volunteer.

The flipside of the Vintage Advantage is getting folks to contribute articles, often difficult.

I guess I just figured it would be a regular publication, since everyone is always saying how great it is. I'll admit the two issues I got were very interesting.

The $20 annual dues is not just for the Vintage Advantage subscription. It's for membership in the club, which has other benefits as well.

Stef, I had the EXACT same problem.. we joined last summer and only received one newsletter, over the year. I contacted them about it and was able to get one copy of another newsletter that had been returned to them, undeliverable.

I was glad to get it.. you are right, they are interesting.

I noticed, from my original address label, that my dues were due again in July, and the Rally in Colorado Springs said we had to be a member of the WBCCI as well as the VAC to attend. So I re-joined, and I enclosed a note about the problems I have had recieving the newsletter..

I don't have a "new" newsletter yet, though.

I'm hoping for better luck this year.. and I DO know it's volunteer.

I'm glad I spotted this thread, I have to re-up too. When I talked to our Region rep (also now in charge of VAC membership), awhile ago, they were considering doing dues renewal reminders via email, but as Ken J noted, it is all volunteer, so patience is required. Patiently awaiting the next newsletter.
