"True Brotherhood"
God, what a world, if men in street and mart
felt that same kinship of the human heart
Which makes them, in the face of fire and flood,
Rise to the meaning of True Brotherhood. Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Wow, some really great memories of WWII vets. My Family had 7 of 9 brothers in WWII along with all 5 brothers-in-law. No, really they did. Check it out. My Father was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. I miss him every day.
I went 2 join the Army in '69, & was waitin for paperwork when My M/Cycle & I had a nasty fight with a bus, I lost, & had too many broken bones 2b let in 2 serve, so I jus gave up, tho I WAS a Boy Scout for 4 years, & My Brother saw a poster back in '63, sayin, Join the Navy & C the WORLd... He spent almost NINE years in a SUBMARINE... I kn it don't count, But When He came Home on leave We had these FANTASTIC Parties, & We always ended up with a FEW American Sailors stayin over 4a few days, Great Guys, Great Days, Great Memories... & FANX 2U ALL, Past, Present & Future Forces who have Supported us Guys from 'Lil 'Ole England...Chris.....

Putting up American flag on the AS and thinking there must be some vets on this forum- sure 'nuff. Famililar names and places: Vandenberg, Annapolis GO NAVY, Camp Pendleton, Kaneohe MC Base, 29 Palms, Pearl Harbor, Air Force Academy, Moffett, Strategic Air Command, Patrick AFB - family full of vets and active. So THANKS VETS!
I thought it would be a good time to bump this thread. Today is my day off for Veteran's Day. Saturday is the holiday, but it is observed Friday. Since I work 4 X 10 with Friday off, today is my holiday. Happy veteran's day to me!
Happy Veterans Day to all our armed services! We can enjoy our freedoms because of you and I, for one, appreciate all that you have done and all that you still do!

Every Veterans Day, the Bayou Banjo Club of Houston has a reunion at Schulenburg to which any and all banjo players are invited. We have a pot-luck and jam on Friday night. Saturday evening, we will play a free concert that is widely avertised in the area; we often have 40 banjos and 300 or more attending. We always end the concert with a tribute to veterans. I leave tomorrow morning with the Airstream.
What makes me sad is that yesterday, out of the blue, I received an invitation to a yearly lunch where veteran musicians get together on Veterans Day. I want to go to that in the worst way, but I can't be two places at once.

Thank all those that have served, as well as those that are serving our country to protect our freedoms.
Prayers to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that most of us can enjoy our freedoms, while a few abuse them.
To those that may visit Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, please stop at the gift shop. They have many momentos of WW 2, and all are reasonably priced. Those funds are used to financially support the Memorial.
They also have for sale, our flag, with an attached certificate stating the date and time that flag flew over the Arizonal Memorial.
On my last month visit there, I was very fortunate to purchase another US flag that flew over the Memorial on 9-11-2006. What a collectors item.
The fuel oil is still rising, at an ever increasing rate, from the Arizona, to the extent that you can now smell it.
It has been down 65 years, and still bleeding as a reminder to all of us, of how very precious life is.
They also have a new 65th anniversary medallion.
Some survivors of the Arizona, upon their death, have chosen to also be buried on that memorial, so there are names slowly being added to the wall to this day.
A absolute "must see" for every veteran, and for those that wish to give thanks to those that have help defend our country and it's freedoms.
It's a "never forget" visit that is free of any charges.
Tears are usually shed, by the weak as well as the strong, while on the Memorial.
