Let's keep this thread going. There has to be a lot of WWII Vets who are Airstreamers. They would be in their late seventies and older, but they are still here. Come on WWII Vets. SOUND OFF!
My Father: WWII: P-47 Pilot, shot down in France, evaded Germans for two months, Purple Heart Korea: Silver Star for saving 22 soldiers and Marines at the Chosin Reservoir, took hits on every sortie, crashed behind Chinese lines and evaded back to allies Viet Nam: Served at Long Binh and came to my squadron parties at Bien Hoa.
Retired with 33 years active duty, served as an enlisted man and officer.
He was 85 last Friday! You can't think of a practical joke he hasn't pulled.
Me: 17 Air Medals, 345 combat missions, and Purple Heart, Viet Nam.
Retired with 22 years service.
I am working on the practical joke list, but I'll never beat his.
