I’ve got one of those veteran ID cards, carry it instead of a DD-214…. I’d swing by the local Forest Service office and pick up an annual one each year, until the last time, when they switched to a lifetime pass instead.

Wife and I purchased a "Senior" pass several years ago for $10 back in the day...wife was always complaining that we should have gotten her one also, because if/when I pass away, (assuming I'm first that is..) that pass is not transferable....Fast forward: we found out last year, Vet's get the Lifetime park pass now for free! We both have our Vet ID's so we picked up new passes while visiting Volcanos NP in HI in December; we both have them now.

Keep the senior, tho’…. The military pass doesn’t discount camping, etc, only is for entrance; your senior pass may get you discounts on campsites.

The senior pass does get you discounts on camp sites. Also if you have a permanent disability there is another lifetime pass for that includes Veterans that does include discounts for amenities

You don't need a National Parks Veteran ID card if your driver's license shows that you are a veteran. Your driver's license is all you need for free entrance to National Parks and recreation sites. Free entrance includes dependents.
