31 Years both Marines, ANG, AF Reserve.....do I Qualify? Just joking! Retired from the military a few years ago. I still have 4 1/2 more years until I retire from the City of LA. Then I'll purchase a new truck and Airstream. But nothing longer than 28 feet.

I was prior enlisted for 20 years

Wink Still proudly serving

Army AG officer with a total of 25 years of service in the Montana Army National Guard, Army Reserve and active duty. I love serving and thank my family everyday for not just supporting, but encouraging, me to live my dream.

BTW, the little geeky part of me picked Ag Quarters as our Airstream name because of the Army (of course) and because Ag is the symbol for Silver.

Thank you to those who have served are serving. Thank you to those who have and are still supporting those who have and are serving.

Without both, we wouldn't have this great nation. May you all have a wonderful day.

A simple act of shaking a service members hand and thanking them for their service or buying morning coffee or lunch at the café goes a long way.

For the last week we (American Legion and VFW) have been doing "Veterans in Schools" visits. We have vets from all wars and from all branches give 5-minute talks to 6th-grade social studies classes on our experiences and then have a question and answer time.

We did two schools this morning; a Baptist Academy where we did the 5-minute talks and a Waldorf school where we simply mingled with a class of high-school kids for a time and answered questions.

The oldest vet in our group today was a Korean vet who went in in 1950. He was a crew chief on the F-86D planes that I flew in 1955-1956 and later on the F-100 in Libya.

By the way, my Airstream's name is "Sabre-Dog III" for the Sabre that I flew and is the 3rd Airstream to carry that name.

Anybody else see the news item over the weekend about the "last draftee" retiring? Army Warrant Officer drafted in 1972, IIRC (the draft ended in 1973). 42 years of continuous service. Well done, Chief.

Here's a link to the story in Army Times: Last draftee retiring after 42 years on active duty | Army Times | armytimes.com

Gotta love this line: “It’s mandatory to get old, but only optional to grow up.”

Everybody raise a tall one tomorrow. You've earned it.

We, on the West Coast of Canada, are about to recognize the 100 anniversary of the WW I silencing the guns. This is " Remembrance Day " so that we can honour those who have fallen for all the freedoms that we enjoy here today.

May we take a moment to thank all those that have served, and those that paid the supreme sacrifice for that privilege.
