“Thanks for your Service”, to all my fellow vet’s out there!

U.S. Air Force 1976-1989
76-78 RAF Upper Heyford, UK – Security Specialist - Alert Force Nukes – F-111A’s
78-82 Pease AFB, NH – Security Specialist - Alert Force Nukes – FB-111’s & KC 135’s
82-89 Pease AFB, NH – Combat Arms Training – Small Arms Instructor / Maintenance

My tour included the end of the Cold War era. Lot’s of saber rattling and posturing by our Cold War friends. Massive tank movements during May Day events caused NATO to increase their posture which meant more aircraft on alert with conventional munitions. Satellite spying and eaves dropping came of age to monitor the other sides’ activities.

Combat Arms Instructor – Worked at the Firing Range. Instructed and qualified students with small arms (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Machinegun, and Grenade Launcher). We transitioned the Security Force, Flight Crews and the rest of our customers out of revolvers and into the newly adopted (at the time) semi-auto pistol (Beretta M9). Good times working at the range teaching and fixing guns every day.

Pretty peaceful enlistment for me from USAF '82 - '86. Proud to have served my country at home and overseas. Still have some friends from that time. My utmost respect for the folks who served during wartime and truly risked it all.

US Army, December 1987-February 2000. Biggest deployments were Desert Shield/Storm with the 1st Cavalry Division October 1991-April 1992 and then IFOR in Bosnia with the 1st Armored Division December 1995-November 1996. Most of my time outside of that was spent in Germany with a little time at Fort Hood and Fort Huachuca.

I did not realize until someone told me that yesterday was Vietnam Veterans "Appreciation Day". So this is a big thank you to all the Vietnam Vets out there for their service and their sacrifices.

US Army 2003-Present
Iraq, Afghanistan, and wherever else the nation requires

Seeing the world that way has really made me want to see more of my own country up close and personal, and that's how I ended up looking for an Airstream.

Politics aside, John McCain is a hero. He didn't shirk his duty like someone we could name. He accepted the call. And any man or woman who survives POW status is an incredibly strong and courageous individual. I pray that he does beat this cancer.

I have 100 respect for Captain MaCain. He is a true American Hero. Unfortunately his current medical condition has left him in a confused state and has affected his judgement. I wish him all the luck in his recovery.

I honestly believe that politics are irrelevant when it comes to one's health. I figure most of us have lost friends and family to cancer and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Prayers for Capt. McCain and family.

That was obviously everyone's first thought. When I watched it I thought it was a TIA. I'd like to believe the doctors were telling us the truth, but we know they can be forced to say exactly what the government tells them to. So we shall turn our attention to his recovery instead.

All of us have a built in expiration date. Cpt. McCain served in combat and in captivity with honor and distinction in Vietnam. At this point that is all that counts. This is not a time for judgement or condemnation.

We pray for him and his family that they have the best possible outcome and receive God's grace to endure this disease.

My niece has this cancer - She and her husband were told 2% survive two years. They went to Anderson Hospital in Houston, she is now in year 4, however, the operation and treatment have negatively impacted her. She has no emotions, none, seldom acknowledges her three children and is now in the final stages. We pray for Senator McCain.
