Just watched a poignant film appropriate for veteran's day. Check out "Last Ounce of Courage" on Netflix- enjoy! Thanks to all that served and are currently serving to preserve our freedoms.

Fort Carson Gold Rush Daze Can-Can Dancer 1973!

Good afternoon and greetings from Cape Cod!

I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed reading these posts! You all have my great respect. While I know this doesn't count, I was an ROTC Army wife, 1971-1973...three months at Fort Gordon (MP School) and two years at Fort Carson, which I loved -- so many nice people! I did lots of volunteering, including a stint as a can-can dancer in Fort Carson's Gold Rush Daze fund raising event. We danced in a saloon that was built in some kind of large building. About eight other wives and myself practiced for months and the costumes we had were over the top gorgeous! What great fun. Strange thing is...I now raise money for a living! But....the can-can dancing is over.

I loved those two years and I thank you again for your wonderful posts. BTW, my father served as a dentist on a destroyer in the Pacific Theater during WWII -- I was always very proud of him, and of course, all the terrific men and women who have served and continue to serve our great Nation.

All good wishes!

AK

Absolutely it counts! Military Spouses and their families share the sacrifice just as the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines do, but in a different way. Thanks for being there for your Soldier. Certainly sounds like you did a few good (and interesting ) things at Ft Carson. And thanks to your Dad as well.

Jim

AK,

Ditto what Jim said. Families do share the sacrifices - don't sell yourself short!

Were in London watching the Sunday Memorial Service
and sending our heartfelt thanks to All Americans of yesteryear who came to Old Blighty to help us and didn't make it back ..
And to American Men and Women right now who can never come back…...And Wives.. Husbands.. Precious Children.. Mothers Fathers and friends of servicemen in the thick of it overseas so far from home it doesn't bear thinking about..forever on tenterhooks..
anxious for their well being ..
The whole thing makes me more than very sad
