Today being Veterans Day, I called my dad to thank him for his 33yrs. of service, I did get choked up.
He was a Naval Aviator for many years, putting his live on the line for this country, just as thousands of breave men and women have done.
From the bottom of my heart, I say Thank You!!. Thank you seems so small for something so important and so large.
I will continue to pray and support all branches of the
Military of the United States of America
Armament - small arms, towed artillery, self-propelled artillery, Tank Turret Repair
1967 - Ft. Campbell, KY
1967 - 1968 - Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
1968 - 1969 - 152nd Maint Battalion, Qui Nhon, Vietnam (2 Tours)
1969 - 1970 Artillery Board, Ft. Sill, OK
1972 - 1973 S. Dakota National Guard
1973 - 1975 Nebraska National Guard
I have total respect for our men and women in our present armed forces. They are so well trained and disciplined, and so brave. I think of the tremendous sacrifices they have endured being deployed two, three, and even four times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes indeed. The incredible thing to me is that after 8 years, the services are still meeting recruiting and retention quotas. An all volunteer force.
I've already tossed out the most recent copy of USAA magazine, but they published the stats on the number of deployments by number of deployments (from a DOD report). Wish I still had it so that I could get this correct, but IIRC, more than 75,000 have had four or more deployments.
My nephew finished his second in January (Air Force, assigned to the Army at Tallil AB in southern Iraq). My cousin is in the middle of her second with 4/82nd Airborne. Combat medic assigned to an FOB somewhere in Afghanistan. Couple of tough kids. God bless 'em.
