TV antennas

I have a 1972 21' Globetrotter. The worm gear on my TV antenna is broken. I'm thinking of just removing the old antenna and replacing it with a new one. Does anyone have experience with antennas? I'm thinking about using the new omni-directional type.

Use caution when replacing a TV antenna.

Consideration must be given to the manner in which the air currents travel over the roof.

If the wrong type antenna is used, the air currents will make it flutter, which can loosen it's mounting and/or cause fatigue cracks in the roof metal.
