"The Parrot Inn".....

because of the jungle theme my wife has accomplished. We are now looking for a good painter to inscribe it on the door side of the trailer. I bought my wife a neon parrot to hang on the inside of the big door-side window when we are on the road. It gives off a nice light and attracts lots of comments.

The wife calls ours "Argie". I call it "Used trailer". I wanted to buy new, she wanted a used Airstream or similar model...

Names on the Trailer?

Other than "Super D" I hadn't seen any mention of actually putting the name on the trailer that is very common with boats. Do you all do that?

Back in the late 50's early 60's it was very common to put a name on the rear quarter panel of customized cars and hot rods. I made a lot of extra spending money doing that kind of art work along with some pin striping in those days.

I haven't name my Airstream yet. Maybe after the first night we actually spend in it I might name it,

Silver Fox trailer

It is easy to tell a persons age by these threads. We must be about the same age. I paid my way through college by painting characters and names on the back of cars as well as doing a lot of pinstripping and flame jobs. There may be a market for that in the Airstream world. If I could only fine my old stripping brush. The surface of the Airstreams would be ideal for striping. I am surprised that some of the West Coast Airstreamers haven't made a hot rod our of their trailer. Flames on the sides, duals sewer drains out the back and fender skirts that go all the way to the back bumper. What is next for the Airstream world?

We thought long and hard for a name for ours. First thing that came to mind was "Money Pit" cause of our ongoing upgrades and renovations. We finally opted for "Seymore" since our goal is to "see more" of the country in our Airstream!

Hey Dan and Davydd, I also remember a lot of the 50's and 60's vintage cars with names and characters. My parents were always into cars and various forms of auto racing. Some tasteful designs certain would look better than the "big red numbers"!

Perhaps we could pitch the idea of transforming an Airstream to Jessie James of Monster Garage! Can't help but wonder what sort of creation he would come up with!!!

Monster Airstream

Helo Herm and Debby,
The Monster Garage idea is great. Jesse would probably turn an Airstream into a SOB camper. Lots of fiberglass and shag carpet. Even big gaudy swash vinyl graphics on the side. Or better yet, he might turn it into the best built camper in the world by not doing anything except washing it and sitting and looking at it with his buddies. Each of the wearing a funky Donald Duck baseball hat with a flat brim.

Finally named ours Harold

After spending the summer camping and coming up with nothing better, I think we will call ours "Harold" after the original owner (who proudly left his name on the instruction manual and original warrenty card). We'll see if the name sticks, but I firmly believe all vehicles need a name

The PO of ours was also named Harold. He is talking about buying another camper. He did not take the AS out for 4 years, but now that he dosnt have it, he misses being able to go, "If he wanted" I am sure he will buy something smaller. He pulled the 32 footer with a dodge 1/2 ton, had to be squirrely.

It took us a while before we actually got our AS but right from the get go we knew this was the floorplan we desired. We felt it was calling us, guiding us to him. We really feel it's masculine.

So, he's a male, he's big, he's silver and he is a powerful presence which we adore...

Hence the name: TITAN!

(...the first Gods on earth). Suits him like a glove.
