Trailer names

Hi everyone

I have yet to name my 88 Squarestream but my son seems to think since it was bought for me to take him fishing and camping (he's 9), that he should get to name it and he wants to call it the Millenium Falcon never mind that he has 2 younger sister that might want some say or me for that matter.
I really don't have a problem with this since I grew up with the real Star Wars, but I thought I would see what you guys thought.

Congratulations on the 1980 Caravelle--they're unique machines, only made 'em one year. Do you have the front kitchen floor plan?

My wife is a great cook and we have had as many as six people for dinner in our 1980 22 foot Caravelle. Took some creative seating as the dinette only seats two. . .

We named our 1968 trailer "Avion Annie" because we got her for our 17th anniversary gift to each other.

Thanks Nuvi. She really is a sweet girl. I found her on the internet, had no idea what we were getting into, but she is quite a find. She attracts lots of attention when we run into other AS owners.

The kitchen is in the front and it is super. Much better layout than our Safari. But how do you chose one child over the other.

We are currently renovating her so she hasn't been away from home this summer.

She is very mid-century futuristic.
I grew up in the 60's with very modern furniture.
We had an orange leather seating group, a lot of molded plywood and chrome accents. Saarinen Tulip table and chairs. Eames pieces. Black leather and over-sized shag.
Wish we still had it but my mom despised it. It was my dad's style and eventually her antiques won.
The Mod Pod has the orange interior. Takes me back...

My 1970 International is named: RIN TIN TIN.
I love, love, love dogs (actually all animals). They are the reason I bought a 27' Overlander... we can all have plenty of room to play. My sister calls me Ellie Mae, as in the Beverly Hillbillies. Im always bringing home a critter to love or find a home for.

We named ours Madaline. We sometimes call her Maddy. Very sophisticated & beautiful name. It is old-fashioned but not stuffy.

We named our's The Silver lining , because a dark cloud came over our Award trailer and dumped some hail on it . The Ins. Co tolaled it, giving us the extra money we never had to buy a new Airstream

I thought long and hard about an appropriate name, but in the end tradition won out. The 1963 Overlander has now been officially named "Moonraker" Not after the 007 Bond movie (which actually would be time appropriate because the James Bond book was written in 1955), but after the sailing term.

According to Wikipedia - A moonraker, also known as a moonsail, hope-in-heaven, or hopesail, isa sail flown immediately above the skysail on the very top of the royal mast on large square rigged sailing ships of the Clipper era. None of the four- and five-masted square rigged ships carried a moonsail. This is a relatively unusual sail only used on ships built primarily for speed. See the one in the picture way at the tippy tippity top?




This term also has special meaning in my family. Growing up, my Dad always had a boat named Moonraker, as was the sailboat he built when we were kids.

When he retired, he built a 20 foot mahogany gaff-rigged yawl that was his pride and joy (and a source of many hours of fun sailing for our family! You can't really see it in the picture but it was built of strips of mahogany glued together. Absolutely stunning! He liked nothing better than to put up the racing jib and FLY! The funny thing was whenever we took it out on the lake, all the boats would come close trying to get a better look at it. Quite often we got the "Thumbs-up"! In a way, it was a lot like owning an Airstream!!!!!

I think that he (and Wally) would approve of me naming my Airstream after the boats of his youth and of mine! Somewhere I read about Wally naming all the Airstream models after boats (and one of them was captained by the first female captain). but I can't find it again. Anyone know where I saw that????

We have named our '81 Caravel "Dinah" because she has an awesome front kitchen and we seem to be the go to TT when it is time to eat. Our '05 Safari is named "Olive" because of the upholstery ~ Attack of the killer olives. We name our tow vehicles too; Grey Goose and Little Gracie.
